Description In a glass sphere floating through the stars, two lovers stand divided by a great wall of ice. One, a man with fiery red wings, casts aside four cups as he descends at full speed toward the ice, prepared to smash through it. Below him lies his mermaid lover, holding in her hand a cup of light with three more surrounding her. The man has sacrificed what he knows in order to follow a new, possibly better path together with her.

Next card in the Skybound Tarot coming at ya!

This is the Eight of Cups, which means sacrifice in order to pursue something better. Leaving an unsatisfying relationship for a new, enticing one, that kind of thing. It's not always painless but often worth it.

Anyway, the concept for this image is hardly original. I was actually inspired by a very old film I had when I was little that I thought would be a great concept for this card.

If you know what this is based off of, you are my favorite person. Ever. EVER.

This feels somewhat incomplete to me, but I like it so I'm uploading it as is. I may change it slightly later. But probably not

I feel like the man lacks motion >_>

Anyway I must mature this because the mermaid is bare-breasted.

This (c) me.

Stanley and Stella from Elroy's Toy!

Oh man, I loved that movie/anthology/thingy when I was little. I wonder if I still have that tape somewhere...? Ah well. It's probably on youtube.

I do have a question, though: Is this a traditional image associated with the Eight of Cups that the CGI short was based on, or is this your personal interpretation, based on the short?

YES! ^^

Lol, you're the first person to recognize it <33 I loved it as well, it was one of my favorites

To answer your question, no, the short is a standalone concept as far as I'm aware. The traditional image associated with the Eight of Cups is a man leaving behind eight cups as he follows the moon. This is my own interpretation of the card, inspired by the short.
