My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan art created for Equestria Daily's weekly Artist Training Grounds challenge . I wanted to see if I could paint my idea within 24 hours and under the given constraints.Update: This made it to Equestria Daily's front page! Thanks to the EQD staff for selecting my piece, and thanks to the brony community for being a source of inspiration and for simply being awesome! Well, Twi is TECHNICALLY flying under her own power, which is pretty impressive for a unicorn.Β How long do you think it'll take Twi to crack the turbojet, considering the level of tech in Equestria is pre internal combustion engine.

That's a good question. Β It depends on her interest in innovating new technologies and Equestria's demand for that kind of transportation. Β For now, it seems like there's not much in their world pushing them in that direction; I'm guessing it will take them a while

Mass transport by pegasus and skybus is terribly inefficient.Β If you can have something powered by two small jets, pilotable by an earth pony, then transit systems become efficient, cheap, and more accessible.
For example, there wouldn't be a pegasus transit line between Canterlot and the Crystal Citadel because A:Β Pegusai don't have that kind of range.Β You'd be wasting weight on food and water for your pilots.Β B: The windchill out there becomes incredibly dangerous for low altitude flight.
Let's take a skybus and put a couple of jet engines on it, changing a ten hour train ride into a two hour flight.
The long range transit system could also have military value, and easily bolster the economy and equality with qualified pilots from the other two tribes.
