Superbe! Ca fait du bien de voir enfin sur les couv françaises les design corrects des vaisseaux de l'Honorverse !

Pour être tout à fait honnête, je ne respecte que les grandes lignes, têtes de proue, anneaux, etc. Par contre je prends des libertés avec les détails (grasers, lasers, silos, etc) sinon je passerais un temps infini sur les vaisseaux et ça serait fastidieux
Mais j'évite de faire des vaisseaux complètement fantaisistes (excepté mes premiers il y a quelques années...

oui respecter chaque détail serait difficile. mais bon je pense que la majorité des lecteurs n'en fait pas cas et pour les autres, ils sont déjà contents qu'enfin les vaisseaux soient ressemblant à ceux décrits à l'intérieur !

Ben ce serait faisable... Mais long... et terriblement ennuyeux pour moi.
Et ça ne ferait plaisir qu'aux fans purs et durs de l'honorverse. Mais la majorité des lecteurs ne s'en rendrait même pas compte. Donc le rapport "temps investi" "impact positif sur les lecteurs" serait rikiki...

Oui, et encore, il faudrait avoir un modèle sous les yeux pour s'en rendre compte ^^ Du moment que la forme y est ainsi que les sabords lance-missiles et laser, c'est le principal !

Ben il y a les plans des vaisseaux dans de nombreux livres tout de même... Sans parler des figurines et des jeux vidéo

Well I don't know. I don't have any contact with the american publisher.
And the actual US illustrator is very famous. So I think that it's a little like a brand. You can't change after so many years because a lot of people won't recognize the news covers as their serie.
When an Honor Harrington book is released, I guess that buyers are looking for this kind of cover.
I think that it won't be very good for the sales if they change now.

Awww, well it's better then the rising thunder cover we got here in the U.S.A. but covers aside it's still a good series, even if I haven't read the all of Shadow of Saganami due to college work. One day I do plan to finish the series though...but it looks like that'll be years from now and it'll be worth the wait. Can't wait to see your "House of Steel" cover art.

The "spin-off" serie is very good, with "saganami", "Torch of freedom" and co. But I don't know what is "House of steel", do you have a link to shwo me ? Is it a spin-off or the HH serie ?

"House of Steel" is a special anthology to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the entire series. It has details on Grayson, Erwohen and Manticore, I believe it also has detailed specs on starships and the tech.

There's also a novella about Roger Winton, founder of the Manticoran dynasty, titled "I Will Build A House of Steel". The Mattingly cover art has Roger with a treecat companion, but that's plainly anachronistic, seeing as how Stephanie Harrington was the first human in history ever to have that kind of relationship...unless, of course, Weber is retconning history.

Now that I've actually read _House of Steel_, I'm feeling pretty redfaced.

Nothing warms my heart more than seeing Solarian SDs getting blown up in such great artwork.
I think I've said this before, but just in case I haven't., you ships are the most accurate ones I've ever seen short of the offical pictures in Jayne's Intelligence Review. Even then, your ships look much cooler than the ones in that book.
The explosions look very realisitic and add nice warm colors to what would otherwise be mostly cool colors.
I also love the debris and the way it leads my eyes around the artwork.
I always thought your covers looked hyper realistic, and this looks like you were actually at the battle and took a picture. Please keep up the good work, I always look forward to seeing your covers whenever I hear another book is coming out.

And yes, you've already said your opinion about my spaceships. But now, I'm really, really sure that I'm on the right way. On my two first covers, I've received a lot of criticisms about them. So, it's cool to see that I've solved this problem
For your information, I'm working on the cover of "More than Honor". It will be very different from my previous covers of the Honorverse
