Description Medium: graphite
Tools: Staedtler Mars Lumograph Graphite pencils (HB-8B), kneaded eraser, illustration board, tissue paper
Size: 11X14"
Time: 7-8 hrs
Description: This is a drawing done from a combination of two photos I took of my sister and I. I really wanted to 'capture the viewers gaze' by creating an intense focus on the eyes. The title is a play on words in a sense. The gaze of my sister and I is essentially captured by the camera and then captured through my pencils, but hopefully our gaze, in turn, captures all of your gazes as well. I had fun with this one, the illustration board surface was pain and the camera didn't accurately pick up the correct shading tonal values so it's a bit warped compared to the original, but I'm happy with it.

You can see a WIP of this in my scraps as well

looks very realistic as ussually from you, perfect except one little thing - the hand in left, looks good but not perfect, maybe in real looks better

it's wonderfull genni! I think you really achieved your goal by the placements of the eyes. There on the right hight on your paper. the scarf is white and the white in the yes are again focussed by the scarf. It's lovely!

Wow it's great and I realized you were sisters even before reading your comment! I'd like to see the reference picture and how you put them together to realize the composition... it could be a nice WIP to show.

*jaw drops in amazement*

My dear, the larger thumbnail looks like a photograph! Even the full view looks like a photo at first glance. You really have to look carefully to tell that's a drawing. And in just 8 hours?

*faints*

Another stunning work. You did the scarf nicely, and the nose looks very natural unlike it did in the WIP. You are so talented!

wow, very nice. from the thumb it looked like a photo. Nice composition. I don't know if it is the scan but I would like to see some white instead of such a very grey image. Contrast is important But even so, nice execution. GJ

thanks, and yah, it's the camera that's altered the original contrast in the drawing...

ah, thats cool. It's just a nature of computers to not be able to pull in the full essence of tradition arts. I don't know if you have any photo editing software but I would try adjusting the levels, a lot of scanners and digital cameras actually have a limit on their ranges from white to black and you can usually fix it with decent results with level adjustments. it's easy to do too.
