I have always loved maps, both real and fictional. I found the in-game map for Breath of the Wild to be... not too visually appealing. Sure, it's functional and highly utilitarian. But I felt like something more artistic was needed. This map style is inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's hand drawn maps of Middle Earth---mostly of the Beleriand region in the First/Second Age.
