Description Ted finally got up the nerve and turned around, looking up at the most magnificent body he had ever seen in his life, accentuated by the most beautiful eyes in the world. Jackie was a sight to behold, and he just blurted out that she looked really nice.

He then feared the reaction from both Alice and Jackie, but none came. He sheepishly looked up at his younger sister, and although she looked a little dismayed, she decided to let Jackie handle the situation.

But to her surprise, a big smile formed on the older girl’s face, and she thanked him for the compliment. The bus for the boys had come, and Ted almost missed it because he was staring up at Jackie’s smiling face.

His bliss was interrupted by the strong grip of Alice, who was leading him to the bus. He apologized to his sister, saying that he didn't know what had come over him. And he promised her that it would never happen again.

Alice told him that she would talk to him when they got home, and watched him board. She apologized to the older gentleman driving. He took one look at Jackie, then Ted, and a knowing smile formed on his face. The bus drove off. She immediately turned to Jackie and apologized for her brother’s behavior, telling the older girl that she would make sure it didn't happen again.

Jackie pleaded with her not to be too hard on Ted. She admitted that she found him attractive, and was hoping that he would say something to her. This caught Alice by surprise. She had no idea a girl would do that sort of thing (she hadn't gone through a full puberty, and therefore hadn't experienced certain hormonal reactions).

But Alice promised Jackie that she would only talk to Ted about holding up the bus. The driver was on a schedule, and any delays could cause other students to be late.

Alice then changed the topic and asked Jackie how she was making out at home. The girl replied that everything seemed to be jumbled because of the information her aunt was constantly giving her.

Alice took out a piece of paper and wrote down her phone number and gave it to Jackie, telling her that if she had any questions, she could call her anytime. She would gladly answer any questions.

Jackie appreciated the offer for help. Alice told her that it may seem overwhelming at first, but it would quickly become easier. All she had to remember was to be honest and communicate what she wanted done, and the rest would take care of itself. The girls hugged as the bus approached.

The bus stopped, and as they were about to board, Jackie asked if it would be ok with Alice if she called Ted.
Alice hesitated, then told her that he didn't have a cellphone yet, but she was going to order one for him and one for her father when she got home from school.

Jake started talking about playing football, but Ted was off in daydream land, the majestic figure of Jackie dancing around in his head. Over and over again, he replayed the events at the bus stop.

It wasn't until the bus pulled up at school that Alice's words to him pierced his brain. Crap, he thought. He had better get his focus on school and quickly. His sister would be disappointed if his grades suffered, and he would suffer if she grounded him for subpar school work. So he steeled his mind as best he could, hiding the image of Jackie as far back in his mind as he could.

Alice's morning classes flew by. Even AP High School courses that girls started taking in 6th grade proved to be no challenge, thanks to their higher IQs. The only plus was she was basically taking the same classes as Ted, so she would be able to keep track of what he was learning. She would know if he was struggling. Thankfully, he did have an IQ that was higher than the average male. But thinking about the bus stop that morning, she just didn't want his mind to wander away from his school work.

As lunch time approached, Alice told her friends that she would be tied up at lunch, so they shouldn't wait for her. The noon hour was almost upon her, so she made a mental note of the questions she wanted to ask.

As soon as her last morning class ended, Alice headed for the building next door, the boys elementary-high school. She knew she was too tall to enter through the main entrance, but thankfully, women made the concession of altering a side entrance directly to the principal’s office that would allow a woman to enter, but with her head bent slightly down.

Alice entered through the door, and came upon a middle aged man. She noticed that he was slightly smaller than her father. She introduced herself and said that she was looking for Fred Smith.

The man extended his small hand and said that he was Fred Smith. Alice gently shook his hand, then followed him into his office.

Alice noticed the two vastly different sizes of chairs. Two for men, and two for women. She took a seat as Mr Smith sat behind his desk. Even sitting, she had to lower her head to talk to him directly.

“Mr Smith, Ted Brady is my brother, and he brought home a permission slip for me to sign that would allow him to play football. Now, I am very hesitant to give him my ok, because I think that there is a great risk for him to be injured.”

“Ms Brady, we at the school have the same fear. We can't have the boys thinking that they are as big and strong and tough as the girls. We have seen how powerful their hits are on one another. So what we decided to do was make the program flag football. We will be making the announcement this afternoon.”

“Flag Football, Mr Smith?” Alice wasn't quite sure what that meant.

“Yes, Ms Brady. We will tie flags on the offensive players, and when the defense grabs them away, the play will be over. So there is almost no risk of serious injury, except maybe a pulled hamstring.”

Alice pictured everything in her mind, and instantly a 10 ton weight was lifted, and a smile formed across her face.

“That is great to know. I kept worrying, and I am sure that I wouldn't be the only guardian to feel like that. But this seems like the boys would get to enjoy the benefits of playing football without the tremendous risks involved. Thank you, Mr Smith!”

“Your welcome, Ms Brady. I am relieved that you came to me with your concerns. Some guardians only want to be involved after the fact. Are there any other concerns I can address?”

Alice stood up, as did Mr Smith. “Thank you, Mr Smith. You were very helpful, and thank you for taking the time to see me.”

“You're welcome, Ms Brady. I can see that Ted is in great hands!” With that, Alice shook Fred Smith’s hand, and went back to her building, anticipating Ted’s reaction when she handed him the signed permission slip.
