Alice and Ted left for the bus stop. He just kept thanking her, while she just smiled at his suddenly talkative nature. Alice made it clear though, that if his grades, or quality of schoolwork suffered, she would pull him out of the program. Ted looked up at her and promised that he wouldn't disappoint her. Alice sensed his sincerity and his total joy, and realized that she made the right call.

However, when they approached the stop, they noticed that their three stop mates were already there. And when Ted saw Jackie, he suddenly lost his voice. To him, she looked stunning, an unapproachable beauty. So he nervously started talking to Jake.

Jan actually spoke, and asked Alice how she was doing. She smiled and told the little girl that she was doing well. She turned to smile at Ted and did a double take.

While Jan and Alice were talking, Jackied had positioned herself to be next to Ted. She subtly lowered her body, until she could reach his left hand, gently took it in her much bigger hand, and slowly stood up.

The feel of his small hand inside hers filled her with joy. She noticed that he wasn't doing anything to try and remove his. No twisting, puling, or any vocal objection.

Although she was feeling happy, she was suddenly worried about Alice's reaction. And as Ted's sister turned around to look at him, and saw them holding hands, she paused, before giving them a weak smile.

Jackie sheepishly realized that she would have to apologize and explain her actions to Alice once the boys were on their way to school. And when they left, Jackie turned to Alice and started to explain.
