Description This is the second time i draw her for Myths & Legends TCG... I love her story since i was a kid (but not too much the movies based on her life ) in fact she was one of the first historical characters that took my attention by all the spiritual background.

this time i want for her closer look to FFXI hume/armor style (i was triying this MMORPG, is pretty good ) in first time i did a very monochromatic version, but i change it for a happier one dunno.

photoshop CS/Graphire 3/ 6 1/2 hours/soundtrack: Look into the lost years (My favorite song by Fairyland T_T_T_T_T, phil is a genious)

Incidentally, when I read Gate up to her appearance, I could almost hear Twain clawing his way out of his grave so he could hunt down the swine who depicted her that way!

The art is great! But inaccurate Joan most likely wore a full body suit of armor and a chain mail hood. And she never fought in combat . she held the banner and planned attacks.

I agree! This piece is dramatic and cool!
Yeah, Joan did wear a full harness of armour (she had a hood and helmet too, but like many commanders she liked going helmetless so everyone could see her well XD) She never fought but she had that holy sword and went right into the middle of battle O_O Imagine, going deep into battle but not allowing (lethal) self-defense! She got shot on two different occasions and in both she stayed strong, she stepped in a spike and kept going, got hit by a rock (good thing she had her helmet on that time!) and jumped right back up!
Do you like Joan? She's great!

"But not very accurate! " -Yeah most of tha best games are also in some way inaccurate or anachronistic such as Dynasty Warriors which is kinda the predecessor of Bladestorm+thought to be the progenitor of the "1 vs 1 army" genre; Bladestorm used to be great to me but eventually it got harder because it does try to be accurate in that swords are at a disadvantage over spears|

fun fact Joan of Arc actually didn't kill anyone, she was the standard bearer the lead the army. Although the sword makes the picture look better, and standard bearer made her quite the target.

AlPucelle In reply to dod424 [2015-04-18 17:24:25 +0000 UTC]

Not many know that. Thank you for reminding us of this truth. She herself said that she loved her banner much more than her sword because it couldn't hurt anyone and though she loved her sword because it was from St Catherine's church, she could not have stood using it to kill anyone and never did.

This is a woman, not an ass, wild or domesticated. She did like horses though, so she probably liked asses too. Jeanne wasn't sexy at all though! None of the young men could think sexy when she was around because they admired her so much and she admired the virtue of chastity.

I died when seeing the title. Who in the hell translate names ? XD It's Jeanne d'Arc. Not...Joan of Arc. XD I'm surprised that, if you love her that much, you don't even know her real name. But I'm even more shocked there are people stupid enough to change a name for another (aka whatever you saw calling her...Joan...which, I have to point out, refers to Johan (a male name) and not even Jeanne, a correct "translation" would be Jane, all making that name...even more stupid....

but what was her birth name?

Petitspas In reply to Mireba [2015-02-05 13:01:32 +0000 UTC]

She's the daughter of Jacques d'Arc (so family name : d'Arc), her forename always was Jeanne.

AlPucelle In reply to Petitspas [2015-04-18 03:29:54 +0000 UTC]

She spelt it Jehanne. and went by Jehanne La Pucelle. In her village she was Jhennette (an affectionate version of Jehanne) and her last name was Romee (her mother's as women in her town kept their name and gave it to the girls) and her father's name was Darc but could be spelt various ways depending on your accent (Tarc, Dart ect) She later received the last name Du Lys. Jeanne is a modernisation of |Jehanne and D'arc is a newer version of Darc with the ' added to make it "noble"
No need to be hard on the artist, everyone can always learn more about their heroes.  Do you like Jehanne? I love her, she's awesome!

Petitspas In reply to AlPucelle [2015-04-18 13:46:55 +0000 UTC]

Now I am quite curious where you read about "Jehanne", "Jehnnette", stuff I pretty much never saw anywhere. And also, Romee was a surname, not the name of her mother, which is Devouton. Interesting story about Domremy which I am rather curious of where you heard/read of that as well. Same with pretty much all the rest of your story. "Du Lys" is a title rather than a last name.

AlPucelle In reply to Petitspas [2015-04-18 16:21:52 +0000 UTC]

Regine Pernoud, renowned scholar, is the one who wrote where I believe I read all of it. Look at Jehanne's signature, it is spelt Jehanne, Jehanne herself said the stuff about Domremy in her trial if my memory serves me well. Oh sorry, that was accidental, I meant surname, though Devouthon ( was that it) is also said to be Isabelle's surname, correct?
You seem to be quite knowledgable about La Pucelle. Let's talke about her sometime.
How careless I have been! It seems that the ennoblement may have not made Du Lys her surname after all and because Jehanne was not as enthusiastic about it as her brothers who took it, she unlike them may not have taken that name. Sorry everyone.
Do you like her, too? Let's get together and talk about her sometime!

Well, I'll check it out, thank you.

Devouthon is the last name of her father she inherited. "Rommée" is thought to be a surname given to people doing a pilgramage to Rome.

Ladies and gents: The asshole we were all waiting for. He just had to comment. I applaud you!

Of course you are right, "Jeanne D'Arc" IS the original name of the Virgin of Orléans. But did you ever consider that during that time it was quite normal to "translate" foreign names the best they could? And that in different cultures, they kept those translated names for generations to come until today? It is not an act of stupidity, but tradition, and many of them are conscious of the original name, but keep referring to these persons in their translated name as an act of respect (to not possibly pronounce the foreign name wrong).

These people have obviously much more respect for the foreign world than you had in your ignorant comment. Maybe you wouldn't have written such idiocy if you had received higher education, which you obviously didn't, so shut your arrogant (possibly nationalist) mouth.

Petitspas In reply to SadeSquared [2014-01-27 21:58:31 +0000 UTC]

The equivalent of Jeanne is Jane. The equivalant of Joan is Johan which is...a male name only in French (and not even Jean which is the male version of Jeanne). So even if translating was "normal", the unability for proper equivalence is...shameful. Also, please tell me why they can't correct it now ? Change the names in education books, as simple as that, much more respectful.

Also, your assumption of most people knowing the real name is sadly wrong. (hasty generalisation)

Wow...you do realize that by being that offensive you are actually making you lower than me ? Aggressive, insulting and making prejudices ? How mature ! If you had even triiiiiiiiied not making prejudices you'd have noticed that I'm not even French. (I'm supposed to be nationalist ?) Arrogant and idiotic ? Saying someone should be called by his/her real name is arrogant and idiotic ? ...eeeeerrrr....o...k...???? I think the word respect doesn't have the same meaning for you. Also saying every traditions should be kept ? .....if I was like you making prejudices I'd say you're a traditionalist (in a bad meaning). Some traditions ought to be changed. Obviously, traditionally calling someone wrong is for you more important than changing it and calling it right ? (let me be an "asshole" traditionalists : women shouldn't work ! it's traditions !)

Anyway, thank you for showing that by trying to make me an asshole and uneducated being you're lowering yourself on your own. But I give you credit. A writing on impulse without even thinking, that happens.
