- Kouki and I often go to Lake Verity when the adults are off scouting the area and foraging. We don’t invite the other kids because they’re too young. It’s a risk but… the lake is pretty, isn’t it?

- But none of us really wanna be here, you know?

- Galar is where my mum is from, she’s really kind and she cooks with the other adults while I watch the younger kids. She says Galar also has beautiful scenery. She told me and Kouki about a city called Wyndon. It has a large wheel that people can step into and it spins a cart around the wheel! One day, I hope the outside world will help us escape, so Kouki and I can get on that wheel for ourselves.

- But I don’t know. Sometimes, we receives cans of beans, fresh water and a ‘We care’ card from a plane that flies off as soon as it drops that stuff. Sometimes, the cans are so old that they’re expired. Sometimes, the food that comes in is already open and moulded.

- I remember hearing one of the adults talk about leaving. I hope Mum, dad and I can leave too, but dad says he needs to take care of the whole group before we can leave. A lot of the times, when someone offers us an escape, we offer it to the family with the youngest children.

- But it’s been like this for four years now… I wonder when Kouki will finally escape.
