I hope he shows up with sufficient levels of cool and awesome in the new Yamato 2199 series. And that he's not a bug hive-mind. And that Gamilon is back to the classic phallic mushroom architecture.

Agreed! I saw and enjoyed the latest live action Yamato version( pretty well made with a lot of heart) But my biggest complaint was the "Hive-mind" version of the Gamilons. They looked too much like the Hylden and/or bad clones of Raziel from the Legacy of Kain/ Soul Reaver, and "Desura"...an animated pillar of hair gel?...really now.
I much prefer the High tech Roman/ Space Prussian Matsumoto originals.
And Emperor Desslok is too far an awesome character to relegate to the dusty cardboard box of 1980s nostalgia.
Man, I hope they do the animated series right!
