I don't know what it is I like so much about his work, but his stories always give me great pleasure! Maybe it's the intricate stories or the charm of the antique writing style ( His peak was in the 1920s and 30s,yet his style is more late 18th century to Georgian early 19th century) I just enjoy the elegant,dream-like quality of his work.

Interesting, I have At the Mountains of Madness I believe it's called. I haven't read it. I'm kind of scared to XDDDDDDD. But seriously I won't answer the door if Domino's Delivery guy shows up looking that.

I can remember reading "The shadow over Innesmouth" when I was in my mid teens, although the story takes place in a run down New England sea side town it wigged me out a bit because the town I lived in(East Point,Georgia..I was born in Atlanta, but lived there most of my early life.)was a burnt out old industrial town with seedy ill kept houses from the teens and twenties, over grown weedy lots, looming ware houses, and grubby closed up store fronts(now torn down). There was a furtiveness and creepy cliquishness to some of the town's "in crowd" and"leading citizens"...It's changed since, affluent young Black families, some Latino folks and educated white folk,no more creepy pseudo Lovecraftians and bitter , judgmental Red necks...which is fine by me.
Lovecraft's work helped me to cope with the dysfunctional environment of my youth.Odd that,eh?

O.O Wow. I remember Poe doing that when I was in my turbulent Junior High years. Though I remember one story from an anthology of horror stories called Monsters,Monsters,Monsters called "Horror of the Heights" which freaked me out about flying for a while. Though "Twilight Zone: The Movie" really got my goat when we flew through a thunderstorm

There's someone on the wing of the plane!

Isn't odd how genres that are known as "fantasy" are great tools for a lot of us to cope with reality?(or at least the pointless rubbish.) Believe me my Brother,I have tried like all my life to be "Normal",but I really stank at it! I guess it's better to be a well adjusted loony than a "normal" type that's about to go all critical mass.(and I have known a LOT of the former in my life!)I have always found it tragic(yet hilarious)that the "normal" types that would put me down for being a weirdo were usually in the closet,or had drinking or substance abuse problems,or were just plain nuts! And yet they defended their "normalcy" with such rabid vigor.
I know I'm a nut,what's their excuse?...(sigh) Muggles...

Very well said my friend. Yeah, being "normal" is too much of a chore, it's best to be as you are even if you're a little nuts. That's mah story and I'm stickin' too it.

A combo of water colour paint, perm. marker and water based pens.
I think I used some liquid paper on the eyes.
As a mechanic friend of mine said; " What ever works that won't make it blow up,smell bad, or piss off your neighbors."
