Description The Great warrior prince of old Romania,Vlad Tepes, keeps a steady watch upon his kingdom. Though maligned over the ages by his enemies and misinformation( and that the late 19th century Irish writer Bram Stoker based his heroic villain vampire Count Dracula roughly on him) He is still revered by the people of Romania(and other eastern European nations). Terrifying to his enemies, but fair and just with the innocent.

Truly he had many burdens to bear, I am thankful I have not had to deal with half of what he went through.

While Vlad was responsible for the murder of many men and women, he did it all for the good of his people.

I agree.
I don't think he was as selfish as some made him out to be.
He did what he did, saved his nation, was betrayed, but in later years was appreciated.
Let him be remembered as a hero of his people.

I hate to break it to you, but he DID kill ten thousand of his own people--no misinformation!

Do you think it gave Churchill pleasure to order the firing upon the French navy ships?
Do you think It gladdened the Heart of Russia's Prince Alexander Nevsky to put down the revolt near his own home town?
No, it did not.
Vlad was a harsh man but a fair man,and often a leader must do things that are not so pleasant for the survival of their nation.
He wasn't a selfish manipulator like Stalin,an arrogant hypocrite like Oliver Cromwell,an egotist like Napoleon,or a psychotic like Hitler.
What of the pope who ordered the inquisitions?
What of the Protestant ministers who approved the witch hunts of Salem?
Vlad was harsh,ruthless, unrelenting....
But he put the needs of his people before his own!
Remember him for that!

"Thou Shalt Not Kill." There are no qualifications to that commandment, and no justifiable reasons; and using impalement as a favorite method of execution, and on such a scale as Dracula used it, is indicative of an extremely sadistic personality...believe me, I know that Vlad has been made into a symbol of Romanian patriotism and independence, and I applaud his struggles against the Turkish juggernaut--but do not deceive yourself, he was very much a prince of his time, and such leaders did not have a concept of nationalism so much as a firm belief in their own personal right to rule; he stopped at nothing to seize and retain control of power in his own land, and he took a dark pleasure in killing anyone who stood in his way.
He was deposed twice by his own people, too! And killed by his own men, not by the Turks...

Point taken my friend...
At least he wasn't a back stabber like France's Phillip the fair.(that wretch betrayed the Knights of Templar simply because he was a cheap, greedy lout and didn't want to pay them for their services anymore...poetic justice that he was shot by a crossbow "accidently" while hunting)

And yes, I know of his darker nature. And many leaders of that era were often brutal...
I will say this and it will be the end of it.

Ask a Romanian, and they will tell you things that I cannot my friend.
No ill feelings my friend,I'm just speaking from my heart.

Understood!

...Funny you should bring up Philip the Fair and the Templars--just before they lit his fire, the Grandmaster of the Order, Jacques de Molay, called on God to call the King and the Pope to stand with him before God for judgment...and before the year was out both Pope and King were dead!

Karma in action as George Harrison said.

I guess it's a good lesson for us all, treat all fairly...because someday, King or beggar, we all must answer for our actions.

As for myself and the stupid selfish things I did when I was younger, I hope I will have the grace and courage to answer for them.

Lord bless us all.(no exceptions)

Amazingly well done brother Ganarf! Vlad looks more a proper people's hero and leader here than anywhere else I've seen.
Nice musical themed art, and nice accompanying music too. ^ ^
