Description A trail into the Grand Canyon off the North Rim...the passage through the Redwall Limestone is always a challenge for the trailmakers. It is usually an unbroken 500 foot cliff. Trails are only possible where faults break up the cliffs. The limestone formed in warm shallow seas 350 million years ago, and were swimming in life, with corals, brachiopods, crinoids, blastoids and all kinds of other strange sea creatures that are found today as fossils.
