Hey, thanks for liking this one. I had some odd luck with the lighting.

Very impressive photograph and I like how you added the inspirational stanza from Dickinson. You have an outstanding gallery!

Hey, thank you for liking this one. Luck was the key factor. I only noticed after the shot that the light on a stair of my pool had created a "halo" for the bee!

Yes, it is often luck that matters most. Here's an example [link] I had intended to capture a bee visiting my salvia, when I heard a whirring noise and my viewfinder went dark. I snapped the picture, looked up, and thought I saw a bird fly away. The picture you will see with this link is the lucky result. It made me wonder how many times a hummingbird had ever been captured with a macro lens! So...good luck!

Perfect words for the photograph!
...but...this is the last bee for the summer?

I leave in about a week and come back at the end of August. That time period will include the places already mentioned plus Colorado, southern Utah, and the Banff area of Alberta. So...I'd better have something other than bees!

Beautiful contrast between the bee and the lighted background... Could that be your pool too??

You guessed it: the pool again. This time it was rather early morning, and the sun had just gotten to the flowers and one odd shaped part of the steps on the pool; the bee just happened to be in front of that lighted section. And thanks for the comment, dT. (Up late, up early; do you need little sleep?)

Oh that's right you are coming to Australia. By any chance will you be coming to Perth at all?
If you are that is great because I live in Perth. Would be nice to meet you and if you want I could show you around a bit where you might get some nice photos.
take care
Michael
