Description I don't know why, but even though Esther is one of the most important characters of the series, I kind of like her the least (out of all the characters).
Abel seems a lot more awesome in my opinion.
And Esther just seems like a damsel in distress half the time...but then again, what can you do when vampires mingle with humans?
It's impossible I know. But as much as it irks me, I must have a stamp dedicated to Esther anyway. The little nun deserves it, for all the crap she's been through.

Well, depends in which canon, Novel Esther > Abel, by far. She's just awesome and far more mature than Abel will ever be. Abel's too childish and clingy.

Very very true.

I haven't read enough of the manga in order to compare it with the anime....but even in the anime, I guess that Esther on the maturity level is way igher than Abel's. Abel can be mature when he's serious about bringing justice, but you're right on the part that he is Esther's tag along half the time.

If he was Esther's tag along in the Anime/Manga, he's even moreso in the novels. Esther bosses him around and is the one who snaps him out his constant emo crisis he can have.

I don't mean the manga, I mean the novels where, you know, Esther starts as a the leader of a terrorist group, the front of liberation against Gyula and is a much serious, darker character who isn't crying for the deaths she causes and isn't doing it for revenge but to release her city from the oppression through a civic war. She grows from a violent racist woman to strong and mature Elizabeth I figure through her ordeals and, unlike Abel, finds her own path. Abel's only continuing Lilith's job.

Abel's only serious about peace that because Lilith died (whom he mourned, locked up in her crypt, for 800 years... Kinda... immature). If his lover wouldn't have died, he would never have even vouched for peace. He used to be a psycho who hated humanity and destroyed millions of human lives. The old Contra Mundi, even Dietrich mentions at one point even them (the Orden) would consider things he did "terrible." Lilith was the one who fought against him even if they were in love. Cain eventually killed her and he went psycho on Cain. Then locked himself up with Lilith's corpse until Caterina stumbled upon them.

He can take seriously his job, but he's not much of a cool guy than someone who lives in the eternal shadow of their dead loved one. Esther (much younger he is and human without powers) has the guts to become independant and to follow her own path. Abel never did and never would.

I find men in Trinity Blood are too dependant on women (good guys anyway), Abel with Lilith, Tres with Caterina... the Empire with Seth, etc

Oh wow! I've never gone into that much research and knew about all that. I knew that there wa an ancutal Trinity Blood novel out there that was written in Chinese, but I didn't know that that was a series as well!

Novels were the source material? Then they were adapted?

Yeah, and I'm wrong on the novels being Chinese (they were Japanese). But, yep...they were originally novels, and then turned into mangas, and then an anime.

Got that right.

But then again, you doesn't love a sweet little clergy vampire guy who goes around looking to eat butt-loads of sugary candy?

They'd definitely have to be a noob in order not to.
