Description
I was so nervous at the thought… asking Kagome to marry me. I continued my walk through the woods until I reached the village. The village where I now lived with my friends… and soon… my own family. I stopped on the large, grassy hill where it slopped down and went into the village.

I rummaged through the inside of my kimono top (Robe of the Fire Rat) and found the small, light red, square box that held my new life in it. I opened it and found the ring, still safe and sound in its cushion. It had a thin gold band and in the center was a square diamond that fit perfectly into the band. It would be my symbol of love for Kagome to marry me.

"Will I even have the courage to say I love her?" I asked myself in my thoughts, "If I can't even say that…*sigh* I might as well give up… But I won't!"

With those thoughts I shut the small box, grasped it tightly in my hand, and walked down the hill to find Kagome.

I finally found Kagome and asked her to walk with me. I was taking her to the tree where she first found me… but she didn't know that, because it was a surprise. When we finally got there, I was so nervous I thought I might break a sweat. Thankfully, I didn't. Once we got there, to the tree, I felt stronger inside… like the tree was strengthening my feelings.

The tree was giving me what I needed… courage. It flowed through me like I was born with it. I was born with it but I just lost it for that moment on the hill.

"Kagome…" I started, "I brought you here to… ask you something…" I wasn't sure if I had the courage to say it, even though the courage was right in front of my face.

Kagome saw the look of stress on my face, "Inuyasha… are you feeling okay?"

"No. Yeah! I'm feelin' alright! Why're ya askin'?" I told her nervously, giving her a right and wrong answer at the same time.

She starting thinking what the hell could be going on with me, "Really? Well you don't sound okay to me."

"C'mon, Inuyasha! Pull yourself together and just get it over with!" I yelled inside my head. "How should I begin…?"

Then it hit me, like a flying brick to the head, "Kagome… I just… wanted to… bring you here for a very special reason." I told her hesitantly.

"Okay." she said now shuffling her feet. Then she realized we were by the tree where she found me, "Isn't this the tree where I found you?"

I completely though everything through, and said, "Yeah it is… That's why…"

"Here goes nothin'…" I tell myself once again.

I slowly got down on one knee. Kagome looked surprised and shocked at the same time while I was in the process. I just kneeled there, and looked up into her dark, mysterious, soft and comforting brown eyes while I spoke to her… with great courage in my voice.

"Kagome… over the years that we've been together, for the longest time… I was always scared that you would leave me and return to your time in your world and never come back again. But now I know that you've decided to stay here with me and the others…" while I was speaking I was rummaging in my kimono top again for the small box with the ring.

I pulled the small box out of my top. Kagome seemed to know what was coming, "While you're here, with me and the others…" I opened the box and revealed the ring to her. She gasped, holding a hand to her chest, "While you're here will you spend the rest of your life with me?"

Kagome was speechless she just stood there, with her mouth still open, gaping at the beautiful ring in the box. "What am I saying?!" I scold myself out loud, "What I mean to say is…" I started over with shorter sentences, "Kagome, I love you. Will you marry me?"

"Wow! I did it! I can't believe I did it! I knew I had that courage somewhere!" I congratulated myself in my thoughts. All I had to do now… is wait for her response.

And I think I know what it is. She had tears in her eyes and her mouth was now shut. She walked toward me and laid her hands on mine that were holding the little box.

She knelt down to my height- as I was still kneeling- and bored her beautiful, dark eyes into my light gold ones, "Of course I will." she said barely in a whisper.

I felt I smile spread across my face. I shut the box and put it quickly on the ground without looking, and Kagome jumped into my arms with happiness. We laughed with joy as I stood up and spun her around in circles. I felt like my life was complete now, I was born for a reason. I was born for… her. This amazing, young woman… whom I was now to marry.

Once we stopped giggling and laughing (I was laughing. Kagome giggled. Men don't giggle. Well… at least I don't!) I stopped spinning Kagome in circles. I didn't want her to get too dizzy or too excited all at once. She looked into my eyes once again, I set her down, and then I kissed her. She and I both wrapped our arms around each other and had ourselves a happy moment as an engaged couple.
