Description Still my largest custom Zoid model, this monster centipede is about 3' 8" long and is comprised primarily of 9 Killer Dome crabs. It was a salute to the great dreadnoughts of WW2 and shares such aspects as massive turrets, racks of anti-aircraft guns, flying bridge towers, sweeping antenna arrays, and included a scout plane (a mosquito) and a tender (an earwig). It was my entry to the 2009 multi-community Grand Prix contest which it won the grand prize. Though it is one of my favorite builds of all time I would love to upgrade it in many aspects. Perhaps there will be a Fusillade Mk2 in the future?

So this s a battleship centipede...? Great, even if you fail the shot of those many many cannons you could possibly kill some foes just by theΒ phobia of staring at a colossal centipede moving around.

Thanks! It is a little intimidating. I am actually working with a client on creating a Fusillade Mk2, but it is in the distant planning stages at the moment.

I have only play the Zoid Sagas videogames and watch the 3 first seasons of the anime but if i recall correctly, the MK2 version are part upgrades of the original ones.

Gonna guess just plan to do a color change and add even more weaponary? Anyway, looks good.

In this case it will be a re-imagining of the original, plus improvements. 15 segments instead of 9, all new weapons, new jointing, new details, a completely re-worked bridge/conn tower system... pretty much everything will be entirely new. I am really excited to see how it comes together!Β  I'm glad you like the original, it was one of the hardest, most detailed models I have made!

Ah, so the classic bigger and stronger.

In this case it makes a lot of sense, story-wise. The last 8 commission pieces I've done moved the story timeline forward and added Zoids with more advanced capabilities, particularly Gil Kaiserin and Supreme King Gojulas. Those two units represent the new apex machines of the Helic and Guylos factions, so when a new client approached me about making a new version of Fusillade it was a natural fit. Fusillade is the flagship of the Zenebas faction, and its weapons and defenses have been bested by the newer technologies. Just as with real military forces, improvements in hostile technology must be met with improvements to protect from their weapons and better weapons to defeat adversary defenses.

As for the size, I actually had plans to make the original Fusillade into a 15 segment centipede to make it more like the real animal. Once the client requested a newer, updated version, I realized the best thing to do was build new from the ground up... bigger and stronger became a logical template to follow.

You know, would likely be faster because previous experience and the fact that you seem to have take notes and pictures of the progress.

You made me take a look at the anime again and download some GBA games for my tablet and watching all that, made me think on the Fusillade as a Flag Zoid just like the DeathSaurer carring aΒ Diffuse Particle Beam Cannon somewhere and being larger than what the specifications says, maybe around the 250 to 500 meters long similar to the largest battleships and scratching the Kaiju size for a intimidation and power factor, if they fear they more likely wont even defend or attack.

My original notion for the Fusillade was to make it the equivalent of one of the great dreadnoughts... in scale, the size is more comparable to a frigate. If I could, I would make the components at least twice the size and double the number of segments, making it almost four times as long. I'm not one of these guys who can make a 10-meter long USS Missouri out of Legos and display it in my garage, though. ^_^

Thanks!
I'd like to think my skills have evolved a lot since this was made, but it is still a favorite of mine. Ultimately I plan to add 5 more segments, replace all of the joints, and attack the paint with some real detail! Incidentally, I have NO idea what I would charge to commission a custom like this; it would probably take $500 in today's market just to collect the parts!

If you get round to adding more or doing another big zoid custom build you should record the process and stick it on YouTube it would be very interesting to see.and yer would cost a small fortune given how expensive zoids seem to be not to mention the man hours you would have to put in

It has become an expensive endeavor to make customs; the average Killer Dome costs around $50 on ebay after shipping. That used to be the price of a medium bat-op kit like Dibison! This is the reason I price out my commissions and require that my clients either send me the cost of components up front or send me the component themselves.

I've never made a video of my build process because it is pretty organic... that is, I'm often all over the place. But, then, I suppose that's what editing is for. ^_^ Β I am going to launch a Patreon account, and I'm sure part of that will entail my creating vlogs of my workshop.Β That ought to be sufficiently embarrassing.

OMG dude this .... this is brutal... i was searching inspiration for a Zoids Doujin... this is something id fear as a republican... (side wich i am mostly inclined in zoid's world)

Fussilade ZBB (Zoid Battleship ((BB is the naval radio therm for battleship))) would have a nice fit in my story

Thanks! I am looking forward to updating this build; my family went all out for me this Christmas and obtained every box of discontinued Megabloks Struxx toys they could find. Those kits contain the best large ball-and-socket joints I've ever seen for creating articulated models. I plan on replacing some 40+ joints on Fusillade with those joints to make it sleeker and better.

Thanks! Updates are going to be slow coming at present... whole family thing tends to crunch creative time, and I'm working on an extremely intricate custom at the moment. If you like, drop by my custom site at:
