Powers and Abilities

• Telepathic light: Light inverts the colour of whatever it touches and if comes into contact with a living creature, can render them unconscious. Becomes less effective the more it is endured and has roughly 5 stages (depends on mental strength of the victim).

1 – Unconsciousness

2 – Nightmares etc. for 5 – 8 hours

3 – Nightmares etc. for 2 – 5 hours

4 – Nightmares etc. for 30 min – 2 hours

5 – Nightmares etc. for 5 – 30 min

Luxlight can establish a telepathic link with anyone who has been hit with the light and she can talk to them, share memories etc. She can only do it with a single person at a time.

• Shapeshifting: Can shapeshift into any animal with the same respiratory system (basically all mammals, reptiles and birds), but prefers not to as it really hurts. Only for dire situations. She also has certain animal abilities including nocturnal vision, fast reflexes, enhanced 5 senses, super flexibility, control over her metabolism, sharpened canines and above average speed, strength and agility.

Weapon(s) of choice: Reinforced bamboo staff that can slide into itself to become a third of the length, equipped with a hidden spearhead. Located in leg holster. Also has dual double-bladed knives located in sheathes on belt.

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Well trained in Taekwondo, Judo and Wing Chun.

Personality

General: Independent and guarded, Lux doesn’t make too many friends. She prefers to do things by herself, and doesn’t want to rely on or owe anyone. Over time she becomes more trusting and opens up, revealing a sarcastic and dark sense of humour and a mischievous streak that often gets her into trouble and, sometimes, out of it. She is also highly intelligent and experienced, therefore intolerant of people she finds dumb and naive, which to her is most *cough* Superboy *cough*. Lux often gets into fight with others - physically and verbally.

Traits: Calculative, protective, resourceful, understanding, measured, logical, doesn’t forget or let things stop her from a task, blunt, risk-taker, realistic point of view (borderline pessimist), micro manager, stubborn, sarcastic.

Background

Harper originally lived in Sydney with her parents and older brother. Her father was an excellent big game hunter and travelled all around the world to take down the most exotic animals and showcase his trophies back home. Her brother, Jordan, was just learning to drive. While trying to get more driving hours under his belt, Jordan was hit by a semi-trailer and killed instantly. Devastated by his son’s death and unable to cope, Harper’s father decided to go for a hunting trip in India and took Harper with him.

Harper didn’t agree with her father’s career; she openly expressed her dislike, so much so that when they went deep into the forest, she disarmed the traps that the hunters had set and would throw rocks into the surrounding area to scare away anything nearby. Despite her best efforts though, Harper’s father managed to shoot and kill a deer. Finally cracking from the grief of her brother’s death and pent-up rage, Harper unleashed her telepathic light for the first time and knocked out everybody in the hunting party, including herself.

Upon waking up, she found herself lying down on a metal table in a large tent. She tried to move, but was tied down by restraints. A man in a white lab coat was in a corner of the tent, and hearing her struggle, walked over to her and explained what she was and that she was ‘special’ and that he was going to make her ‘more special’. See this man was a crazy biologist that had been conducting illegal experiments deep in the Indian jungle. Harper couldn’t do anything to stop him from making her ‘more special’ and he experimented on her and after 8 months, had successfully given her shapeshifting abilities. During these 8 months, Harper had gained vague control over her telepathic light and had suffered it enough so that she was unaffected by it. All of the testing had also altered Harper's appearance, making her skin and hair very light and pale, and her eyes had turned from brown to blue (ask me if you don't understand why).

Now the mad scientist underestimated the skills that Harper would obtain after being fully merged with the DNA that gave her the ability to shapeshift. Harper used her newfound ability to destroy the tent and surrounding camp, sending the evil biologist and his minions running for the hills. After her rampage, she picked up the files explaining what had been done to her. After registering what had happened, Harper set off for home, not realising that her mother had committed suicide because of the death of her son and presumed deaths of her husband and daughter.

At 15, Harper was spent. She had come to terms with her family’s deaths, and had given up on trying to find the scientist who had most likely murdered her father. Lost and tired of stealing to survive, she decided to go live with her mother’s relatives in Gotham City. Realising that they thought she was dead, she decided to become their house cat, and pretended to be a stray that had wondered in through a window. Unfortunately, they called animal control and she had to flee. Regretfully, Harper turned back to a life of stealing and sneaking to live.

Fed up with crime, Harper decided that life would be better in an animal shelter, so she turned up as a stray cat to a well-known shelter that had a high adoption rate. During her time at the shelter, she earned the name Scratch due to her attacking anyone she didn't like. Finally, she was adopted by Miss Martian to become the resident Mount Justice cat. After several weeks of settling in, Harper decided to reveal herself, but under the name of Luxlight.

After conferring with the Justice League, Aqualad allowed Lux to join the team… and VOILA!
