The Umbrella- Why are you so sad madam? Is anything wrong? Guess we will never know right? A truth that they don’t want us to know. The truth hurts and that is the main theme of this drawing. A story whom we all could only just interpret and make a few guesses; but it’s only truly seen if we look at the smallest of details. At first when I made this, I was inspired by the beauty of rain itself, which is shown throughout the piece. I loved the effect that the reflecting water makes on the sidewalks, and I believe I successfully recreated it. Later on, I began to think about a story I could have made using all of my concentration pieces and so this piece inspired my next drawing “Rain Watch”. Unfortunately, I discarded this idea seeing that it would be too hard and boring to simply draw about one topic throughout a whole semester. - 2017 Jose Vasquez
