Being a scientist as STAR labs meant that you had to be open minded.

Being Barry Allen’s girlfriend meant you had to be very open-minded.

And you were. Your boyfriend could run faster than the speed of sound in 10 seconds flat for God’s sake. How could you not be?

The only thing you weren’t so open-minded about was cockroaches.

“So, a little after six sound good?” you asked, clacking away at your computer as you carful balanced your cell between your ear and shoulder.

“I can always come and get you now.” Barry’s voice filtered through the phone, and you could see the pouty face was making through the cell. “It’s almost six anyway.”

“Bar,” you chided gently. Sure, you wanted to get out of the lab as quick as possible, but, as Cisco so suggestively put it, work before pleasure. “I have to finish up here. We don’t all get to leave work whenever we want.”

Barry started to protest, but quickly fell silent. After Joe figured out about Barry’s ‘other’ job, he had started to let the man off the hook whenever Cicso , Dr. Wells, or Catlin or even you called him in. “Ugh, fine.”

“It’s only for 30 minutes-“ you cut yourself off with a startled gasp, quickly sliding back in the chair and knocking just about everything over in the process.

“(Name)?” Barry asked. He got no response, and after trying once more time he hung up, and was at your side in a matter of 2.09 seconds just as the rest of the gang came running in.“(Name), what’s-?”

“Told ya we should have gotten this place sprayed.” Cisco smirked, crossing his arms over his chest.

Barry went over to your computer, picking up a tiny cockroach that had climb it’s way onto the desk, a shit eating grin on his face. “It’s not even that-“

“Get rid of it.”

“(Name)-” He tried to take a step towards you, hand outstretched.

“Barry I swear to God-” You scooted back, but it was all in vain. Barry just zoomed over to you, and was now dangling it a few inches from your face before the good doctor decide to step in.

“Give it to me.” Dr. Wells gingerly plucking the tiny roach from Barry’s hand. You watched him closely as he went over to on of the windows, and once it was thrown out into the great unknown he looked back at you. “Why don’t you and Barry go on that date now?”

Barry grinned at you, and you just scowled. “I hate you.”

“You say that,” Barry replied, scooping you up from your chair. “But do you really mean it?”

“For the next 5 minutes I will.”
