Description Late addition, I know. Wasn't really happy with it the first time around, so I just let it rot for a while, then it kind of came back to me and I did some dodge and burn, hoorah... blah

In Silent Hill Two, there's this hotel, on the shores of the fog-bound Lake Toluca, that you enter and find seemingly uninhabited, brooding and still. You can almost smell the cold and stale funk, the human occupants long gone; you alone in a grey-and-brown dominated place full of silence and dark corners. The kind of place offering no refuge from memory, whether fond or painful. This picture really took me back there. Thanks... really.

Excellent series. I think the addition of a model to your urban shots works really well in this series, and could continue to work well for you if you continued working with models in the future.

I love the grunge effect in this, and how every crack and smear of dirt is visible. It really helps with the dark feel, and the way you can't see through the window but can't entirely make out the reflections either is wonderful.

Another aspect that attracts me to this is the positioning of the model. If they were looking to their left with their arms positioned by their side, they'd appear as if searching for someone after finding nothing in the house, interacting with the scene. But by interacting with the viewer instead, it's more of a macabre portrait, as if they're saying "hello, my name is so-and-so, and this is my home."

Still, congratulations on the DD, and credit to both you for taking such a wonderful shot and ~MyNameIsSwann for making such a beautiful mask. Well done!

Amazingly detailed comment, a real pleasure to read, so for that I thank you.

Indeed I loved using a model for my work, it brings out a whole new level of interactivity with enviroment, and I most certainly am going to use a model for some of the urban photography to come. In fact this series of photos was supposed to be released along with a longer series, that I've been working on for some time, gathering the equipment necessery, but it got delayed. I'm hoping I can complete it this week

Thank you again for the great insight on the work

Strangely, I was just listening to the soundtrack for Sympathy For Lady Vengeance, when I read this . I love Park's films, they are what partly motivated me to start photographing.

Indeed , I've got a soft spot for them as well (oh who am I kiddin I friggin love them), and I would go as far as to say that at the moment they have the most powerful film (in terms of quality) industry in the world

YES! YES he is. Such an awesome guy. Alongside Ha-kyun Shin and Byung-Hun Lee he's one of my favorites . Thirst is gonna be awesome, by the looks of it's going to be one of Song's greatest roles.

Chopen In reply to ghostrider-in-ze-sky [2009-04-24 07:26:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm so terrible with Korean names, although you would say that it's not that difficult to remember for someone who is Chinese I think I have only seen Ha-Kyun Shin in Sympathy for mr Vengeance and he played that role flawlessly. Byung-Hun Lee is also amazing, in JSA as a good guy and in The Good, The Bad and The Weird as an evil motherf..

Oh I saw that you received a DD today, congratulations!! Good luck with answering all the messages

Don't worry about the names, it's the same with me and Polish (in some cases)names. And yes Asian names are generaly hard for me to remember, escpecially Korean and Thai names. BTW Ha-Kyun Shin is quite awesome in Save the Green Planet, if you haven't seen it I most graciously recommend you give it a shot, it's a romantic drama/comedy/sci-fi/kung-fu/thriller/horror film, pretty neat

Thanks ... it's gonna one long long night
