edit Did say I would revisit this image. I wanted to bring out the red a bit more like the customer wanted. So, and to try some of CS6's adjustments. A lot better than CS4's.

More adjusting. Experimenting with this style that a lot of digital artists are trying to do, almost look like a slight anaglyph look, but not completely.

I really like this one - thus the fave. You have always had a good grasp with Lockwood style red dragons and this one is no exception. Design-wise the only fault tha have with this guys is an issue I have with your dragons in general. I feel the neck to head proportions are off, but I like my beast to have big heads. The dragon's head/breathweapon is its main feature/attack. To me it should be emphasized because of this, not minimized. That is whay t-rex has a giant head after all. Anyway, this one's neck is thicker than its body which seems a bit odd to me. I do like the end of the tail though - it reminds me of Smaug.
To the art: I think this one of the best pieces from a techinical standpoint that I have seen from you. The ground at the dragon's feet is wonderful and the scales are well rendered. Nice work

Vision: Beautiful. A very elegant and distinguished poise and position. Proper anatomy. Fitting wings and colors. Fantastic shading. Brilliant details. Overall this is definitely aesthetically appealing to the eye, and even more so. I love the layers of background, very well chosen, gives it an air of mystery and apprehension. Very spooky, or eery, maybe even evil.
Originality: Well, it's a dragon. Not too much originality there, but that's obvious. So it's not really an insult to have a low marking for that considering it was a commission and all, a lot more original than SOME dragons I've seen here on DA.
Technique: Brilliant. I love it. Everything is fabulous. Just, just fantastic.
Impact: More impact than one would expect from just seeing a dragon. The glowing eyes, the dark background, the dragon, everything together is just. . . Just. . . Captivating. And sort of hits you.
I'm not actually sure who this is, but I'm sure it's someone(some. . . dragon), because it's a commission, but either way I'm sure you made it wonderfully.

Honestly you should look deeper into dragons in art communities. His dragons, the way he draws his even metalic appearing scales, muscle tone and wings.

Well obviously I haven't been looking deep into dragons in art communities so please forgive my ignorance! But I am sure I have properly admired this dragon, the scales and muscle tone and wings are fantastic but I'm still not sure how that atones to the originality?

This is also a commission, originality for her work shouldn't have been graded so. Yes, it's a dragon, but also keep in mind that originality is also not a subject matter. The coloring, the shading, the technique can also be graded as originality. The red armor being faint yet clear, and the harsh background lighting that brings out the details in front even though it's a darker tint. I know you enjoyed the piece, so don't consider this a criticism, just try to be more open minded to all aspects of art in the future.

Overall, I have to say that you really did an awesome job. The whole picture itself just jumped out at me and screamed "HEY, LOOK AT ME! I'M AWESOME!" You did a really great job with the light source, but I think that the scales could use a bit more "shadowing" to make the light's effect on the dragon's scales more dynamic and realistic.
I really like the background and the perfectly detailed scales as well. You definitely paid attention to all of those little things that make or break a picture, and it turned out a true masterpiece.
Again, really great job, I don't have any other complaints. Keep up the good work, and don't stop drawing!

The scales look very metallic, and since there is no obvious point of light, I think they should be in darker color. For a more realistic look, I suggest rougher scale texture, to make it look tougher. I think you did a great job on they background and head. The dragon looked very muscular and sturdy, all anatomy is correct. Good touch with the glare between the wings, was a nice touch as well. Only anatomy problem is the wing muscle that goes too far back on the flank. That woul create strain while the dragon is flying. All in all, a very good deviation.
