I've always been an avid reader of Faerie tales, especially of Celtic, German and Scandinavian origins, and somehow feel that the current versions have been homogenized and sanitized so as to make them palatable to modern sensibilities. That being said, I find it hard to believe that the protagonist in the tale "Hansel and Gretel" could be fooled so easily by two wayward children, especially on her home turf. She is an ancient one, full of cunning and guile. Her dwelling is a magical place, and all who enter succumb to a powerful enchantment.
So, with that in mind, here is how she might appear, taking a rest in the garden with her familiar after a delectable lunch, and perhaps thinking of an appropriate recipe for the evening's meal...

Wow, love it! Your style is really well-suited to fairy tales like this. I love all of the detailed lines in the wood and the pumpkin. There's something so solid about your artwork!

Thanks for the fave on this one, EF! I do enjoy a re-interpretation of old tales and legends from time to time, and seeing where the image can go. Interestingly, so many different styles fit these stories. I'm glad you think mine does, also!

Thanks, Doc! You hit it on the head. I was trying for that look. This piece was greatly inspired by the work of Ed Binkley. If you haven't seen his go, visit his website here: [link] . Prepare to be amazed...

Thank you kindly. I've been doing more shaded work lately, trying to fill out the lines a tad, as it were. More in this direction coming soon.

How funny.... I wrote my little comment on the fly... on one of my daily checks of the 6 or 7 sites I really pay attention to online. I had no idea I called you "Bib" until I read it in your response...
