Second in a series of four called Slices. By this time I've decided that the four images will be hard lined brush and ink work, as well as color. I'll be using my usual water based mediums, such as water-dyes, water-colors, Prisma colored pencils, however, I want to experiment with the color in some different ways than I've tried in the past. We'll see.

Some thoughts about this image includes: instead of "balls of energy" floating around her (and a primarily light background), each globe is a planet or world, including the one behind her. That could be cool! I'm not particularly fond of cross-hatching on faces, but, when done correctly, does have a nice texture of shadow to it.

Three and Four coming up. I want to pencil all the images before I come back to ink them. For me, it will be easier to keep consistency of style with the ink amongst all four if they are inked in the same time frame.

As always, thanks for looking! C'ya.

Damn. This is good work mate. I realy like the parts where you did actually NOT drawn lines to emphasize the orbs or snowballs and the lightning. Realy gives the drawing a nice dimension/depth, it would not have gotten with just more lines to add depth. Nice technique. The lineart is top notch as usual. Only minor detail I might mention is her left eyeball. That tiny white dent makes it look a little edged. But oh boy, I allready feel bad for nitpicking mate. Instant anyway

Thanks, Jaro, for stopping by and the fave! I've been bouncing around between the four, inking a little here and a little there on each. This one is mostly inked at this time, and I've tried to increase that depth with the ink as I did with the pencil. Just carried the technique forward. A lot of the pencil lines in the background have disappeared! But I'll post the end result of the hard line ink in the near future. Then, I'll go in with ink wash, and try to establish lighting. This may help soften that eye, too. Thanks once again, and if you haven't seen it, I posted the final image tonight:Ā In the Twinkling of an Eye (Finished Pencil)Ā

You're absolutely welcome. Haha yeah just saw it and damn, that's quite awesome too (also instant ). I like the ornaments in the new one a lot! Also using four little drawings with a common theme is a rather brilliant method. It's been ages, since I drew more than one drawing with the same concept behind it. Realy should pick up on your idea sometime in the future, if you don't mind. I am really curious on how these turn out inked - let alone coloured. For me personally it's always a difficult balance to find the right technique. Ink means more depth, pencil means better lightning.. But I recently saw On the Road to Find Out from you. That's one frickin good example of ink and lightning. So I'm sure these ones will not suffer from the ink, quite contrary ;DĀ  keep us updated.

I immediately want to know her story!Ā  She looks awesome, the textures and linework are (once again) magnificent and this is already a standout piece as it is.Ā  Can't wait to see more progress on this set

Thank you! I know what you mean, in that, the longer an image takes to do, more of a backstory tends to develop as the piece is worked on. These, however, being quite small, are progressing fast enough so that I don't have a lot of time to think about it, and instead, I'm concentrating on design and color theory, along with how the best interpretation of the finished pencil line with ink will help to "unify" the composition. The coat (on the forward shoulder area) may have a little bit more ornamental lines before it's finished. And I'm really liking the "each circle a planet" direction. We'll see.Ā

But the stories will come, in time, from all who view the work (hopefully ), and that is a good thing!
