This is good work. I don't know what program you used but you can get a lot of control over opacity and blending with photoshop and others to make a smoother transition from altered to un-altered parts of your picture which will make it look more natural. Look at some of 's work---it's hard to tell just where nature leaves off and she begins!! (come to think of it, I should ask her for some pointers!) ;3

i stay in pretty close contact with her over the DA actually. look at my journal, you'll see she's at the top. yeah i did use photoshop, but it was like 6 years ago and didn't have much to get help from back then. i've been trying a few manips, but haven't posted any since i think they are still too basic. i'll post more when i can. i appreciate the constructive criticism

Actually, I noticed that but she's such a good example of what I was getting at!
I think posting your newer manips is a good idea---it gives people a chance to see you progress and improve. If everybody worried that their stuff was rough or needed more work there would be a lot less good art to look at. Just my take on it--do what you are comfortable with. Me, I know mine are not as good as I could do if I spent more time on them and learned more technique. But I haven't the patience, so I do what I can with the the tools (mental) I got and upload figuring if I enjoy it SOMEONE else probably will too. ^.^

thats very true. if i had more time to practice and learn new technique's i'd put out more and progressively better mainps. until then i have to work in my 5-10 minutes doing almost nothing to pics. i hope to get some new stuff up soon though. is my fav artist on DA and i'm trying to learn how she does it so i can better my work. i would hate to duplicate (since that is like stealing)but she has great techniques that look great and i may be able to use and change slightly in my own ways

There are also lots and lots of tutorials on dA and elsewhere for Photoshop. But like you say, you need the time in order to study and learn from these. Someday I hope to have the time and patience to check some of them out but till then I'll just muddle along trying to figure things out for myself for the most part.

Hey giaguaro and Puppetdog... I just happened to "overhear" your conversation and I'm actually in the same boat right now too. I love all the awesome human/animal hybrid manips on DA and they've really inspired me to learn how to do my own. I've never used any kind of photomanipulation software before and am TRYING to learn photoshop as I go. There's sure alot to learn! But it's awesome and I can't wait until I can pump out awesome manips like Shakes, lessthenhuman and somethingwild, et all. I've been working on something off and on for quite some time but it sure is slow going when you don't know what the hell you're doing! lol

Anyway, besides the tutorials here on DA, (which I honestly haven't checked out TOO much because most of them are text based) I've actually found YOUTUBE to be an indispensable learning tool. There are quite a few VIDEO tutorials posted there, which is great because then you can actually SEE how things are supposed to work as you're learning! I'll post a few links to some SERIES of tutorials that I've found to be pretty useful:

The first one is called "You Suck at Photoshop", it's an ongoing series of short tutorials that is both hilarious and informative. A little more comedy than education, but it's great to be laughing while learning some of the tools of photoshop. Here's the link for the first part of the series, go there and you'll find links to the other parts and also a link to the homepage of the guy who produced them: [link]
The next series is from a website called tutvid.com. He has tutorials on a whole range of subjects and definately goes more in depth into each tool or technique that's being explained. You can tell he's not a professional teacher or anything, but he does a pretty good job of explaining alot of different things. Here's his site where you'll find links to all those tutorials: [link]

And one more site I'll tell you about, I've checked out a few of his and he has about 15 tutorials explaining some of the more used tools and these are good because he explains pretty clearly and almost always "zooms in" so you can see exactly what buttons he's clicking on. Also, I haven't checked any of them out, but there seems to be several links on this page to OTHER sites offering free photoshop tutorials. So here's that one: [link]

Well, I hope you guys find those useful. Now let's go make some sweet morphs!!! (especially Catgirls! lol )
