She looks adorable! Great job! The sewing is wonderful, especially due to the fact that it wasn't a machine! Are the eyes painted?

Well that is a bummer. If you donβt mind me asking though (maybe I can learn sometihng), what issues do you have with sewing machines? I mean, I still consider myself a beginner, but Iβve used one from the start (but it's also 30 years old). Is it alignment issues, because I am still working on a way to mitigate those.

The one I have is a bit old too. its my mom's machine, she doesn't use it very much either, but she uses it more than me, for sure.
Maybe with a new one will be more friendly to me, I dont know.
I guess I have alignment issues too, I think what I most hate is I don't have the same control as sewing by hand. And that stubborn machine keeps loosening the thread, that when doesn't entangle everything.. I've lost count of how many times I thought I sewed some bit and then notice that the needle had released the line.
So, to not lose my mind, I prefer sewing by hand hahah : )

My mom used to use it more than me, but Iβve been using it more than she has in a long time.
I know what you mean about control, but recently, itβs almost like I feel I shouldnβt fight the fabric. That is, if something isnβt exactly aligned, I can compensate for it on the other side. But I havenβt had too many problems the thread loosening. I think that only happened one time. There were a few times it threw the thread from the pull-up arm and tangled everything up, but now I just use tape and run the thread through it.
But I also run it through a Variac autotransformer, so I have it running at about 80 volts or so rather than the full 120 volts from the wall so that slows it down. The original foot switch wasnβt very predictable, so itβs either on or off at 80 volts through a simple power footswitch.
Maybe a few tweaks here and there could get it to work better, but if youβre having that much trouble, then I can understand for sure. Do you generally use backstitches for straight stitches?

I'm thinking in buying one of those hand sewing machines. They are cheap, if doesn't work I wouldn't care that much. Do you know them?
