He is my second favorite Masterpiece figure, just after Wheeljack.

lol this is probably one of the only Decepticons whose toy is life-sized when transformed.

Lol I had not thought about that. Megatron would be the other.

lol true, but it also depends on how large those figures are. I wonder if someone should try making realistic, life-sized copies of Megatron's and Soundwave's alternate forms.

I think Megatron might lead to a few legal problems these days, being a gun and all.

lol you have a point there. I have my own views about gun control, but I can still imagine how Megatron can lead to few legal problems.

The G1 toy is very real looking form a distance. So much so that years ago someone used one to rob a store. Of course that ruined Megatron ever having a realistic gun mode in the US again

I honestly didn't know that. I just assumed that shrinking transformations weren't realistic.

I don't know for being unrealistic. I just know they are cool.

They are cool. I just noticed that proportions and size weren't always focused on in the g1 series.

Agreed. I remember one episode where Megatron transformed into gun mode and was attached to the bottom of Starscream in jet mode. Then we had the comics where for example the Insecticons would transform and be the actual size of bugs.

There's also the deal with Astrotrain. I remember in the 80s movie where he could hold Starscream, Megatron, some Insecticons, Soundwave, Soundwave's minicons, and Devastator (in full combination form). Astrotrain did complain about the wait, but his vehicle form must have been huge to house that many cons.

GiantGeekyRobot In reply to Taqresu650 [2015-11-15 18:12:20 +0000 UTC]

I always assumed that Astrotrain's interior was in a separate dimension, like the inside of the TARDIS on Doctor Who. Kinda like subspace. It would also explain mass shifting, and where items like Prime's trailer go.

That's an interesting idea, and it would work. Maybe it applies to mini-cons like lazerbeak when they go into Soundwave.

I had never thought about it when if came to the mini-con tapes.

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-15 20:44:00 +0000 UTC]

I haven't given it a lot of thought either, but it's interesting. Like how does Soundwave manage to store all the mini-con tapes while also being able to shrink when he transforms.

I would still say mass shifting. It does bring to question why there is no mass shifting in the newer shows?

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-16 00:42:19 +0000 UTC]

From the way you're describing it, mass shifting sounds a lot like the Pym particles used by Antman. But you also have a point there, mass shifting doesn't seem to be present in the newer shows and movies of Transformers (unless you're talking about the Allspark, I don't know how else to describe what went on with it in the first Bay movie).

GiantGeekyRobot In reply to Taqresu650 [2015-11-16 02:50:31 +0000 UTC]

That is a great way to describe it!
As for the Allspark, that has to be it. Even though Bay had said no mass shifting, it still happened. Now there is no reason why TF5 can't have a TF that turns into a cell phone and still be a 30 foot tall bot. They have already established that the concept does exist in the Bayverse.

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-16 03:58:28 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know Bay said that, but you have a point. With Optimus looking for their "creators," I can imagine mass Shifting as some kind of technology that is too advanced for the other bots or cons.

GiantGeekyRobot In reply to Taqresu650 [2015-11-16 22:43:58 +0000 UTC]

I hope that is the direction that they take.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-16 23:53:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think the All-Spark is somehow a tool for the creators of the Transformers, whoever could have built the All-Spark most likely has mass shifting technology.

By the way I think there could have been a bit of mass shifting in Transformers Prime. I remember when Optimus gave Jack that keycard thing that helped Prime recover his memories. When he handed the card to Jack, you can see it changing into a tinier version of itself.

GiantGeekyRobot In reply to Taqresu650 [2015-11-17 01:27:00 +0000 UTC]

Are you talking about the card that had a copy of the Matrix?
As far as the movies go, I hope that they connect the Creators to the Allspark.

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-17 01:47:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was in the end of Season 1 or the beginning of Season 2 (maybe both). I think Optimus first told Jack that it was the key for the space bridge, or something like that.
On the movies, I hope so too, because in the first movie Optimus said it created all Cybertronians, and in the fourth movie, Lockdown says he was sent by the "creators" to end the Transformer's interfering. Both cases kind of deviate from Transformer lore. Not to mention how the second movie shows the Primes, the Fallen, and the Seekers as being ancient Transformers. I think originally (in the lore) it was Primus/Cybertron that creates all Cybertronians.

Ive always been on the fence about the Primus story. I always thought thay there should be a combination of the Quintasons and Primus.

I think I'll need to more Transformers lore before I make an opinion.

How so?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taqresu650 In reply to GiantGeekyRobot [2015-11-23 23:57:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, most of the Transformer shows out there are ones I haven't watched, I have read any of the comics, and what I have seen are mostly new in comparison to the older generations. So I don't know much about the various origin stories of each generation. I don't even know if you get to see Primus in G1 like you do with Unicron. It's hard to develop an opinion of something you don't know much about.

Since I was little, I've wanted to collect every Bionicle set out there, so the site would really be useful for that.
