nope, just a photograph of smoke. I shot my flash from the right side of the frame, and made a tube out of cardboard and put different colors of cellophane slightly overlapping from top to bottom at the end of the tube. (the smoke is from incense)

I didn't make the bird, the smoke formed that shape on its own. I just got lucky enough to capture it.

tis awesome but how do you do HDR with smoke (constantly moving)? really sweet effect and is the gradient edited or an effect you used in the pic taking?

well I guess its not "officially" an HDR, but I used HDR editing on a single RAW file (adjusting the exposure on the computer to simulate). It made the lines in the smoke more defined and crisp. As for the color I shot with the flash on the right side shooting left and put a tube over it and had 3 strips of colored celophane slightly overlapping at the end of it to color the smoke.

The smoke images are gorgeous. This is my favorite, though. I see a couple of birds, blue jays from the shape of the head, almost touching beak to beak.

Thank you! I'm really fond of this one as well, although I didnt see a second bird until you said something. Everyone perceives the world around them a little different.
