Experimented with shading and backgrounds and lineart for this. I may post this without the background so you can actually see the lineart better.
Please be kind. This is gift art for a good friend. I see the flaws; no need to point them out. They won't be fixed. I left out the wings 'cause I was having trouble with them. Hope you don't mind Kurdlez.

This is one of your best works yet. I don't see what's wrong with the tail, to be honest. It looks fine to me. I absolutely love how you used different tones and shades of blue to shade and highlight this. She's going to love it! Everything about it is so soft and smooth..
