Watercolours over an ink drawing.

It's not my best work, it's not my worst work! It's OK!

Dunnocks are lovely and much overlooked birds with a very sweet song and I feel that they don't get enough art dedicated to them. Shades of brown are not exactly my comfort zone when it comes to colours but I try very hard to sometimes leave that comfort zone. This may have also been driven by a desire to finally use up the two shades of brown in my watercolour set for which I bought replacements months ago. Alas, there's still some dregs left.

Anyway, I think the colours are appropriate for the season. I have been told off for using "boring" colours by a friend and my husband described this painting as "morose" (but then he tends to say that about all of my paintings). Maybe I'll produce something a little brighter next!
