Description My take on this incredible Australian cryptid, from what I read (man that was a lot of reading)(also of what I can recall) on several sights, books, magazines and what not, the bunyip is an Australian cryptid from the Australian mythology of the original Australian Natives. Their mythology is often overlooked, but when I decided to dig into as much of it as I possibly can, I just fell in love, head over heels. So I decided to dig myself into as much Autralian mythology (note: before the arrival of Europeans)  as I could possibly find, I even made a list, however their was one cryptid I fell in love with the most... the bunyip. I just love so many things about it, well except for the fact that it eats people. But so far after looking at many of its descriptions, the bunyip actually more, (note: this is just to me, either I'm reading from the wrong sources, if so then it's time to decommission a few encyclopedias, or I'm reading it wrong) but from the descriptions I've read, the bunyip more sounds like a pre-historic animal I know about called a nothosaur. But after I started to think about it, I am now thinking that a bunyip could be an actual animal, for some animals that we know of today used to be considered cryptids, until they where actually found like the okapi and the snow leopard. But this is only a hypothesis, not fact, nor an actual belief, but a thought.

So all rambling aside, I based this bunyip off of the descriptions I found of it from several different resources, which took a week of digging. I dug through mythology and fantasy books; physical, off-line digital, and online encyclopedias; online and physical magazines; and of course, the internet; just to find the description of this creature, so I drew this, only a few months later is when I found out that a lot of the descriptions I found, as well as the model I made, had certain key features that reminded me of the nothosaur, which only got me into making a bunyip that looks more like a nothosaur, but just by a bit, which is where I got the one that I call The Bunyip from Green Bay which can be found in my artwork called Collection.
