If Sonic thinks that this is an epic battle, then he's dead wrong. It looks more like he's having a tantrum like a tiny child banging his little fists up against a big tall person. Then getting upset that his strikes don't hurt. Though, it is Zielo's fault for wanting to use him to be entertained. Sonic IS more annoying this way.

I just can see Zielo's expression like "What in the world...he just touched me?" and the last panel like "Oh you gonna die and suffer a lot" like omg, I love Zielo but I'm liking more this side of Sonic, it's super upper exciting!!

He clearly didn't expect that to happen, which is why this is such a monumental moment in the comic! The fact that Zielo, an all powerful, immortal deity whose abilities could outmatch Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet and Bill Cipher combined, could be touched by a simple, mortal creature, is something that was seen as an impossible feat. Now, its certain. If he can be touched, he can get hurt, and if he can get hurt, he can be killed.
Just like everyone else.
