Okay, just make sure that the primary and secondary characters are at least referenced in there!

I put up the request already and no one has taken the offer. In fact my last three story requests have not been answered.

Because many scientific discoveries had overturned traditional beliefs which people clung closely onto, and offends their sensibilities. Scientific research also uncovered secrets of life and the universe which raises disturbing implications about the nature of reality and our place in it. Scientists and intellectuals often know so much more empirical knowledge compared to others that even in the modern age most people would struggle to understand them (Not that many ever bother to even invest effort to learn, only to enjoy the fruits of scientific research)

In short, ignorance, fear, jealousy, laziness and pride are what cause many people to turn their back on science. They cannot, sometimes literally, understand the importance of science in their lives, and to the long term survival of the human species and civilisation. As a MSc student in Biomedicine, you have no idea how much that frustrates me.

Philosophies, morals, that sort of thing. Some just believe we are shutting our self in too much as a race because of technology. In a way sadly, it is true. Not many connections left to nature save for the farmers that provide most if not all of our food.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Vladimir-Zharkov In reply to Arcolm [2014-06-13 18:20:15 +0000 UTC]

Even though it is true that we should not destroy our world in the process of advancement, I would very much rather be "disconnected" from nature rather than having to fight for my food and life every day. The main goal of life is to survive and reproduce, and technology is the best way for the human race to achieve that.

Then you might be interested in something like this.

Agricultural engineering/base concept

We have the structures to do it. We just keep taking them down without a thought of how to reuse them. The concept isn't new and has been redone time and time again. But no one has ever thought of how to apply it.

Despite my lack of faith in humanities method of progress at the moment I still think there are ways around it. Like using solar and wind powered rail lines for cargo. Lots of coal for carbon nano-tubes yes, but the applications are endless when it comes to carbon its self so far it would seem. Graphine even more so.

True being able to thrive has its positive traits. Yet, I still see a lot of lack of interest in peaceful technology like this. Futurist go nuts over it and yet do nothing about natural impact tech. Only the rich have that power and no one is willing to make that impact either. I find frustration in a lot of things this planet has to offer humanity as a whole as I've stated before and can't stress enough. Changes must be made.

Alluris In reply to Vladimir-Zharkov [2014-06-15 20:39:03 +0000 UTC]

Eh, I'd say the main goal of life is to live. It kinda makes the surviving and reproducing part worth the effort.
