I actually don't think the kitty looks sad. Instead, I think he looks quite content with the company of his own shadow.

This picture is sad indeed. I can just imagine the poor thing sitting alone, mewing softly, and people walking by paying no attention. It makes me tear up, really. I think I am going soft as I age, haha. But this picture is rather profound. I see this small creature against those large bricks -- small to this very large world. I think it adds to this 'lonely' feeling. Yet, despite that, the shadow seems to give this defiant and comforting image as if, 'I am your companion and am always with you.'
Also some random observation: like the kitten is sitting on the ground, the shadow seems to 'sit' on the line of the brick below the kitten. I find that neat.

I kinda getting softer as I age too! Icant stand horror or violent moovies anymore and I cry like a baby at any sad or love scenes lol

I was browsing through your gallery, just out of interest, and when I saw this I had to stop for a while. The dusty colours on the ground, how they blend the kitten making the little one almost unvisible, if it was without the shadow. And the shadow itself, looking so mighty like reflecting the true form of the kitten, bigger and bolder.
Yet still, this being so sad, makes me forget everything I said above and just think of it, how lonely the little one might be and how is the one doing at the moment. And that's what strikes me the most here, and in photos generally, that they awake emotions and thoughts in me. You have a fantastic, vivid gallery and I really enjoyed my way through it. Keep it up and thank you!

Such a fantastic photo. I can already feel its skinny little body covered in fluffy fur as I pick it up and give it a loving home. The little kitten does not have to be alone anymore.
