Description I can hardly hear the roar of the ocean
Going deaf by the heartbeat of the land
I'm thirsty for the taste of seawater
Waiting for the tide to rise again
Taking me where I belong.

****

Old Jaffa, Israel.
Taken with IR filter to get the dramatic effect and emphesize the dramatic sky.

i have noticed the depth of field in many of your shots- the clouds and earth seem to point at whatever you are photographing- how do you do that?

Great shot, I love the contrast in the clouds, interesting perspective too.

The darkening of the corners (i'm sure there's a technical term for it) really help set the mood of the picture too.

do you spot meter for the middle only?

I spot the subject of the photo,
Sometimes it's background.
In ifra red I never spot, cause it's all about trying, and correcting. There is no way of seeing in advance how it would turn out.

Have you read the story "The Boat"? I haven't myself, but a group in my english class did a seminar-type presentation on it. This picture, and the words that go with it, remind me very much of it.

I love the dramaticness of it all! The moody clouds, reluctant sea, sad old boat. Amazing!

Gilad,

I dont know if you take these photos of yours when you go these places by yourself, or with others.... I would bet on walking these places by yourself when u take these shots... i bet you having a great time doing this!
I enjoy looking at your works because you show a prettier side of Israel than the side people see in the media worldwide.

Thanks for that.

Hi Zohar
Sometimes I go alone. On this shoot I was alone
I do like to go with other photographers, but there is a different state of mind when I go alone. I think more "out of the box".

at the beginning i thought just that this shot is awesome.
but then i had to get to know how this cloud-effect was done.
thought these clouds were moving really fast but then i saw
that you only used a 1/250 shutter speed..
so please tell me how youve done it.
thanks so far

The wide angle gives a sense of distortion that may have caused that feeling for you.
