This is a partial reproduction of Manet's 1863 painting entitled Olympia. I have seen it multiple times at Musée d'Orsay in Paris, but I painted this piece working from an online refrence photo from the Web Gallery of Art: www.wga.hu/cgi-bin/highlight.c…

I would like to point out that what makes this figure painting especially interesting to me is that the model who posed for it, Victorine Meurent, was also a portrait painter whose work was accepted by the Paris Salon when Manet's own paintings were not being accepted.
