Awesome work. I love the fire reflecting on the giant blade. The color work on K'alluvia himself is downright epic. You've really come a long way with your coloring abilities...I find myself envying your technique now.
I think the flames need some work. They look a little too flat and simplistic compared to the incredible quality of the coloring on the rest of the character. One thing you might try is reversing it so that the flames are brighter the closer they are to the point of origin. Look at real fire and see how the color emanates from it.
Also, because they are actually wings of fire, and because they're so close to the character, there should be significantly more ambient lighting hitting K'alluvia's back, and in turn greater contrast in the shadows. The wings themselves should be treated as a major light source.
In the future, I would suggest trying to develop some simple backgrounds for your pinups. Something as basic as a ground plane with some texture on it can go a long way toward making your pinups look "whole". But as it stands, this is really good and just needs some touching up.

I always enjoy your feedback. I sat on these lines for a couple of months now intimidated by coloring the fire. I didn't want to use a photograph and the highlights were going to be very difficult to pull off. You touched on everything that was an obstacle to me in this picture. The fire is incredibly difficult. I'm almost mad I made such a character but I did and I like him so I have to deal with it. I'm going to take another pass at the things you mentioned. The psd file is already over 3 gigs! I hope I can still open it. Thanks a lot, JP, I really appreciate it.

The coloring on the wings and the way they light the figure are spot on now, but I just noticed a new problem (which may be just nitpicking at this point): the flame shapes on the wings seem to be pointing down instead of up. Fire always flickers upward, even when being propelled by something like a flame thrower. It's not a huge deal, but it's something you should be mindful of in the future.

It's really good as is, the only thing I might try is adding more contrast by brightening the fire and the reflective bits of the sword.
