Description After coming across ’s drawing of a little-known Hanna-Barbera cartoon, it caused me to come up with a drawing for another little-known Hanna-Barbera cartoon, obviously for me a dinosaur-related one called, “Dino Boy In the Lost Valley.” The cartoon is about this young boy named Todd who has to eject from his parents’ disabled plane and land in an Amazonian jungle in South America. After landing, he’s rescued by a Caveman who barely speaks English named Ugh and a young brontosaurus named Bronty (hence the B on his collar). For every 6-minute or so episode, Todd, Bronty and Ugh find themselves in trouble with strange creatures, like giant ants, Incan-like warriors, pygmy people, even an abominable snowman.
The show was tied with Space Ghost during its first season in September 1966. Unfortunately Dino Boy didn’t last that long on television (ended a year later), reportedly due to the idea that Todd didn’t have the appearance of a superhero. I’ve watched a few episodes on YouTube out of curiosity. The concept was good; just the trio getting stuck in a random situation and then getting themselves out eventually. Todd was voiced by a boy actor named Johnny Carson (not THE J. Carson) and Bronty spoke in Scooby-Doo-like gulps.
Ugh was not placed in this picture, since I’m terrible at drawing humans. Todd is the first human I drew seriously. But overall I’m pleased with the result. Todd and Bronty were both colored on Gimp, and the background was colored with Prismacolor pencil, with the lower half slightly erased for texture.

I watched this back when it first came out in 1966, when I was 10 and therefore the same age as Dino Boy himself. I always liked to imagine myself being him or at least *with* him sharing adventures.

Yeah when I first saw your fan pic I thought the modern appearance(tell not dragging and all) was artistic licence but then I looked It up on youtube and was amazed at how accurate the dinosaurs in this show were considering it was made at a time that the reason scientist had for not believing the dinosaurs on the ica stones was that there tells weren't dragging and thus they weren't scientificly accurate It seams that it was hanna barbera
that took the artistic licence and were right

Nice that there's more people who know this show. On a very rare occasion the Boomerang Cartoon Network plays this.

Same here. I envy this kid.

(Even though I mean Apatosaurus, I also say Brontosaurus just because it sounds much cooler.)
