I've spent the last 20 minutes looking rapturously at this picture wondering how I could put into words my admiration for it. The first thing i noticed was the contrasting elements. The fairy looks as if she comes from a place not the one in the picture. I don't generally see them in dragon ships and this is a splendid one with the dragon prow with the little fangs and blue eyes. The reeds, flowers and other flora are simultaneously realistically depicted yet seem as if they came from a dream. The lovely blueish coloring of both the sky and water; again depicted realistically, but not real. The reflections of the sky in the water as if they are one. The hazy outlines of trees in the background giving the landscape size and scope. The little necklace, (talisman?), around the dragon's neck. If this was a story, I would say the fairy is on a quest, perhaps rescue, and must journey far from home alone and unaided, perhaps to a land of Viking-like warriors or perhaps to world of the dead. Is she is doing this in a dream or is she physically placed in that boat? Questions raised as I gaze at this magnificent work of fantasy.

love the etherial, otherworldly feel that the blue tone and shadowy background trees give this.
I want a boat like that!!!
