Still not sure if I'm gonna do a colored version of this one yet...Done in ballpoint pen (little bit of grey marker in the mirror)

I use copic markers too.. but I'm only 13.. (I don't have your kind of skill.. to color, so well, full page artworks) I just wanted to say you are amazing!

So, I have question.
I saw the colored version of this..
When you colored this, did you magically remove the black shading you did here? 
For example, there is shading towards the left of his neck. (not the view of the guy in the mirror).. and in the colored version, the shading is gone? Did you edit it in photoshop or something?
Or did you use, opaque white? .. I use the copic brand marker paper, and when I print my lineart, the paper gets jammed.. so I was just wondering about the shading!

I actually scanned in the piece as I was working on it so that any shading I didn't want in the colored version I didn't put down until I scanned it in.
I wasn't sure I was even going to color it, but I wound up coloring it anyway LOL
For this piece I used Bristol (which didn't give me any problems when printing out the line art) but I usually use copy paper!

This is amazing! I draw but I am never brave enough to try ballpoint pen. If I use pen at all it's a fountain pen. This is very detailed and speaks volumes in emotion. You convey the message in the eyes with accurate vividness. Very well done.

I was wondering if you sketch it out lightly in pencil first or if you just jump right into it with pen?
My pencil markings never erase that well and your artwork looks like it has no pencil involved what so ever, so I was wondering.
