Description Well....now we are in the run-up to Christmas, I thought I'd pop some more festive cakes on

This was donated to my kids school back in 2002. It was based on a Christmas card I saw and thought the snowman looked cute!

He is based on the shape of the Penguin cake [link] , with a chocolate orange for his head. I started to regret usung royal icing to cerate the body half way through as my hand killed from pipeing dots!

Thankyou also for the coment. I went on Printerest to see where my cake was, and whomever used it, took my signature off, so I've just had to slap a big watermark on this image.

Hi there

Yes, that would be no problem at all, I'm glad you like it enough to want to make him yourself.Β
If you wouldn't mind though, could you send me a link to the picture you post? I'd love to see it!

Hi Gina it's been ages since we've spoken so I must catch up with your latest creations.
I noticed recently that one of your cakes was on fb on another person's album of cake photos. Here the link...not sure if you can see it or not but thought you should know [link]

Hi...
...yes, it's been ages! We need a good catch up.

Thanks for letting me know. I get told more and more about other people cropping my signature, and posting pictures.
Most of the time, because it's a photo dump page theres not much I can do about it. Seeing as this is someones facebook account, I might be able to. It means getting an account...but at least I'd be able to message the person directly.

Thankyou ^^

Gina there are some other decorators also on the page who have asked Facebook to remove their cake photos because they don't belong to this person. i know of one who has had her photo taken down.

I wasn't sure if you were on fb so that's why I let you know about it.

How have you been?

ginas-cakes In reply to Amandasmacarons [2013-01-21 13:44:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh...thankyou for that. I'm only not on facebook because of all the teen trouble with 2 of my girls. They use it for a gossip, and it doesn't look good on the rest of the family, so the husband would rather no-one have an account.

I might have a chat with him now, especially as 'd have more control over what people submit. I've got 3 other cake pictures on by others, but they have either asked, or linked me to the photo after.

...and I've been fine thanks. Megga busy as usual with the family, and Christmas was gone in a flash with all the things I needed to do......how about you?

I tend to agree about the trouble with facebook. I resisted for a long time. It was only when I found most of my friends who were cake decorators were on fb I decided to test the water. Mind you it's wise to be selective who can and can't view your personal details.

We are all fine here....and I've become a Grandmother since we last spoke!! The most beautiful little boy. He is just a joy and needless to say loved to bits...lol..

Just sitting here watching the beginnings of the American Presidential inauguration but as it approaches 11:00 pm here I think I will have to watch a replay tomorrow.....must go to bed now.

Keep well. xxp

Awww.....congratulations grandma ....and I bet he is loved to bits!
I'm not wishing my girls to grow up too fast, but I'm going to enjoy being a
Grandmother.
I enjoyed the kids when they were little....but not enought to go through
sleepness nights all over again. Theres too much of an age gap now and
I think 5 is more than enough.

What's his name?

If after having a word with the husband I get an account on facebook, I'll
look you up if thats ok?

Take care x x

Thanks so much. He most certainly is loved to bits. We are all besotted with him.
Oh yes...sleepless nights ...I couldn't go through that again. In saying that though our little one has been sleeping a 10 hour sleep from about 4 months old.....believe it or not!!!! There is a reason my two are 5 years apart because my Daughter was a non sleeper.
His name is Nathan Thomas M.....

Yes look me up if you sign up to Fb....will enjoy chatting. xx

ginas-cakes In reply to Alielove19 [2011-12-13 08:49:02 +0000 UTC]

From this picture of the penguin stages [link] you can see that it just holds itself up. Fruit cake is solid and quite stable. When the marzipan is on, it holds everything in place, and secures it to the board

The dots were agony....I'd used a small nozzle, mixed the RI up to thick and had to keep taking breaks...
Was soooo glad to finish it

very nice. Did you use a rod for the middle of the cake to prevent it from sliding? I only ask because someone wanted a snowman cake also and I was thinking of making it more rounded similar to a real snowman constructed with balls of snow.
