Thomas is so hard to make! I followed the tutorial from one of Debbie Browns book, and I still found it really hard

Exactly! Eyebrowless Thomas: reminds me of my old Take Along. XD

Scary.

The Controller of Obesity does seem a bit plumper than usual...

Awesome cake!
My four year old happened to look over my shoulder as I was browsing your page, he now expects ME to make this for his birthday *sigh* I'm doomed!

This cake was an absolute nightmare for me to make at the time. I've made 2 of these and was so thankful when Spiderman was more popular

That looks very good!

I'm sorry to admit, when I got a Thomas cake at that age I was upset as it was the wrong shade of blue
I'd say you'ld got it right, though!

Thankyou....
..and yes, the wrong shade of colour can make a really big difference.
It's sometimes hard to colour fondant as well because it turns a bit darker
when it's left for a bit...^^

You're very welcome
It seems blue's a colour that's particularly susceptible to changing..
Well, with this subject, just swear blind he needed a trip to the loco wash if it does turn darker

It's not Thomas who looks scary, but the Fat Controller looks evil.

This is a fabulous Thomas & the Fat Controller.....I'm afraid Thomas is no longer my friend....what a nightmare to do....in 42 deg C heat didn't help either.

I will never do him again either....right at the last moment, an hour before delivery, Thomas' face cracked and thank goodness my Husband took it in hand and repaired an extra one I had made as a prototype.....all's well that ends' well I suppose but never again.

I have so many rejects!!!....the trouble is my teacher is an award winning flower maker....she makes the most perfect flowers...she has about 30 years advance on me. She is wonderful and patient but the penny hasn't quite dropped for me yet....I'll keep persisting though.

That's the spirit!....you'll get there in the end, and all of a sudden, you'll have a perfect flower!
I'm looking forward to that time myself ..... how does she do hers? I use a tip from one of my books to use clingfilm and press balls of fondant.

My teacher uses cutters....from the tiniest to the largest petals....making and drying a rose cone then attaching the petals which have been frilled, veined (sometimes) and placed in rows around the cone....breathtaking when you see her do it.
