Here is all that one needs to know of Sigilyph:

It is based off of the "Nazca Lines" that are prevailant in South America. Those were created by a somewhat advanced civilization in that continent, and are similar to the Mound Builders that were in the American Midwest. Clearly, their greatest feat was that of mysterious monuments in the ground. The lines have been referenced in video games already (Illusion of Gaia had a stage built around the Condor, while the Legend of Zelda: Four Swords game had such a bird design in the Gerudo Desert). The Condor line has a reference once more in the form of this beauty.

The reason why I said "Condor" is that the line of the monument is very similar to this Pokemon, right down to the head. Just look at this image: [link] , and let me know otherwise.

It is a Psychic/Flying type, although by no means does it look like an actual bird. If anything, it has a Unown-esque head to it (however, since the Isshu (or Unova) region has been isolated from the rest of the world, it is its own type, and not an evolution of any Pokemon). Its abilities are Miracle Skin and Magic Guard, which have yet to be revealed, as they are still being translated. Finally, it has a role in Isshu's Elite Four, as Katorena has one (and keeps it for her Rematch Team).

I also created the background myself, so apoligies for if it looks like a MS Paint-type work.
