HII HELLO!! me again, this time with an entry for the dainty Halloween contest! Don’t u hate it when u go to the library and the librarian has been knocked out by some odd smoky ghost? Me too (the librarian is fine I promise guys)

This took me so LONG I’m really glad I managed to finish it in time o7

Overall it’s been really fun to work on this and it’s probably been one of the most complex scenes I’ve ever worked on?? there were tons of things that I struggled with (the books. Oh my god the books drove me MAD I ended up making a book brush from scratch just for the books HEKGCJDGNFHFB) but I had tons of fun with figuring out what I wanted to do with this >:]

I used procreate for this but helped myself through blender when I was struggling with the perspective and general mirrors! (Diagonal mirrors are so confusing and my brain completely failed on me when trying to figure out what the reflections were supposed to look like so blender came in really handy even though I kinda had to learn from scratch how to use it HEKDGJFYFJ that was pretty fun too though and I really enjoy learning to use new programs so I didn’t mind) I also struggle a lot with backgrounds so this was!! Definitely something out of my comfort zone but I’m still really happy w it

next up: stats!

the sketches took me 1h 20mins, while the rest of the process (which was done on a separate canvas bc I had a very limited amount of layers) took me a total of 12h and 48mins! i think this might’ve been the longest I’ve ever spent on a single scene? (I also suspect a high percentage was spent trying to find a way to draw those pesky books. My n.1 enemy)

Even if I don’t end up winning this was a really entertaining project and I’m glad I got to make this!! I wish I had more time as I was planning on animating it a little but hey!! Maybe I’ll get to do that next time >: Dc There’s tons of really cool entries so far and I’m glad to have been able to join the contest <3 gl everyone!!
