Description
My library’s mascot is a tumbleweed because there is such an abundance of them in our area. As part of our summer reading program, I made a small tumbleweed out of pipe cleaners and made his art supplies out of things we had around the office. We put him in an empty fish tank so no one would walk off with him, and told the kids to look at what he was doing, then look for books about that activity to find a picture of another tumbleweed that we had hidden. If they could tell us where the picture was they could pick something out of our prize jar. This activity is meant to help the kids become more familiar with the library and teach them how to look things up in the catalog.

The picture that the tumbleweed is paining was done with watercolor pencils and is only about 3 inches tall.
