Description
This is something i would love to have. I think it's kinda self-explanatory.Having such a wide widget could be useful in many ways and it would help to have important information at one place all together and where people would see it.
Often stuff gets lost with the way widgets have to be arranged.
Characteristics:
• full width available
• max height of 200px or similar (to avoid ‘abuse’)
• always at the top of your profile
• full HTML/CSS support (maybe some kind of featured journal entry)

I always try that both columns have nearly the same height. Well for my resolution... because i never know how it looks like for others.

Ah yeah. I've noticed on mine it varies because my journals tend to be different lengths so that changes it a lot. That and sometimes the recent deviation widget changes depending on what my newest thing is. most of the time its layouts of my latest MOC. So those are usually wider than they are taller.

Sort of neat idea. While i agree that i would love to have "something full width" on the top of my page, i wouldn't want a custom box like that – it just doesn't look very appealing to me. Instead, i'd prefer something like facebook's cover images. (I know, i'm actually suggestion a facebook feature for dA, how evil of me!

Like mentioned in the description, i am thinking of something that is similar to a featured journal, but with the limited height. So that you can fully customize it. Just like we are able to do with journal, then you can completely restyle the border/title etc and can end up with something like you described as well
The gruze-box look would just be the default one, for those who don't want to do more with it or maybe the basic version for non-PM deviants.

The way i just saw it in my head, though, was an extension of the blues bar (the one that holds your basic stats). Of course, this could be achieved with a margin-top: -10px or something like that, but still..

I would LOVE this! For instance on my group, there are times when a lot of information has to be shared, but it takes up so much vertical space because of how the widget is formatted.

I'd love this if it were a carousel of thumbnails for a gallery or favs that just scrolls along indefinitely.

Maybe that could be an option for this widget. Like either you have some thumbnail carousel or going to use HTML/CSS to style it.

The only problem I see with this is, that you can only put it at the very top of your profile. Or is that a good thing? Not sure yet
But I like the idea. 
Especially limiting the height is very good, cos yeah… people would add huge things to their profiles and it would take ages to load even more.

As allother widgets vary in their size there wouldn't be no other place to add this. Even at the footer it would look strange if one column would be short and the other rather long.
And like explained in the preview, having at the top would be great to add all important information for your visitors, so they don't have to search for the single widgets or through journals etc.

It'd be another premium member feature for sure. Frankly, I don't see how much more useful it would be than just properly using the custom widget we currently have. But that's just me.

Well, that would be up to dA if it would be for PM only or not.
Using CSS in custom widgets is just a bug, a bug that is not supported at all. Also i hate the massive loading times because of the big background images everywhere. Also you are limited to what you can do and you also can place the widgets to certain areas (especially if you have added the journal and ID widget at your profile).
Additionally with full HTML/CSS support you would be less limited with styling.

Kind of. You can make use of code that already exist for dA, but that is all. Just eh combination of those different elements makes it possible to add all those things to the custom widgets.

Interesting. Then maybe could change that for the Custom widget. Also, I don't imagine full HTML support would be allowed since that would include the script tag - and people can do some nasty stuff with that. Thus, it would have to go through a filter to strip out those tags.
I do imagine you're thinking the box - new or old - should be something as flexible as the journal, correct?

Full HTML/CSS support just like we have in journals of course. So yes, that would be limited, but less than what we currently have for custom widgets.
