I'm a transwoman. I'm not thrilled with my appearance, a lot of my neuroses are based around trying to become comfortable with it. I live as a man mostly but I'm beginning a transition to being a woman 24/7. The breasts are not real and that's a wig.This is the first thing I've posted and one of the first times I've posted any pictures of my "true self" (lofty term, I know, but it is accurate) publicly. Thank you very much, you're so sweet. I'm thinking of going further, not sure how far or when yet. I try to keep in mind that my situation is not the end of the world and there's plenty of other people out there who feel different and are much worse off than I am.

Good for you to have the courage to be strong. I have a cousin who has gender identity issues and it is difficult to see him struggle with it.

I've been lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) in that my strong denial/coping mechanisms have allowed me to soldier on with my life without dealing with my issues. The important thing is to face them, even if he/she's struggling, so that's the biggest step. Everything else eventually resolves itself.
