Description He had woken up with a massive headache in an alley off a side street of a city in what he thought might be somewhere in Europa. After a day or so it became clear to him that he didn't know where he was but it wasn't any where he had ever been.  It was a whole different world. He could not really remember any details about where he came from but it wasn't here.  Steam trucks and cars powered by phlogiston engines, an applied science of thaumaturgy, and even live elemental beings. It was a world where Paul the Christ proclaimed the Demiurge was the True God and the believers after Moses or Jesus or any other belief were hunted as blasphemers, heretics, or even demon worshipers.

He found the language was different. The accents were strange yet he could understand and have a conversation with the people he met even if they spoke different languages. Most of them thought he was mad or an addict of some kind. He had learned to avoid the policemen for they seemed to be not much more than thugs employed by the government. The world map he thought he remembered did not look anything like the one which showed the nation-states of this world.

Why was he here? Where was he supposed to go?

There I was minding my own business when i noticed you had mentioned me in a post. So being a nosy cow I took a look and being even more inclined to curiosity I followed the link to this. Now I am not one to be parsimonious with anything, least of all praise, So......
This is a truly fantastic piece or work Gish, there you are being all self deprecating and stuff and all the time your hiding gems, you bad man!
I love the atmosphere and the composition and the scene and the sheer artistry of this amazing scene.
Okay, now I am gushing and thats not a nice thing thing to imagine, even less nice to be doing.
Well done Gish and you have a nice festive season too...

Thank you. I'm usually very bad at detail but I thought I'd try to give this better detail than I usually do. I also spent a bit of time "de-speckling" the completed render since the lighting wasn't quite bright enough.

The second one in the series "In the Hall of the Dark Queen"

is not quite as good... The lighting is not right and the materials [textures] for the room were set up for Poser [It was made for Poser] which means the prop renders too glossy in DS] I hope to do more work of the same quality as the first one... which you weren't gushing about [after all we wouldn't want to to think you actually like my work... It might embarrass me.]

As for being a bad man-- I've worked long and hard to get that reputation I must continue to maintain it.

hugs yourself-- Gz
