Description the more I get to know this program, the more I find out that I don't know anything and the more I don't want to submit anything either. ... that life ..

Yes, we all can continue to learn more. Its good to be modest, but this is great. Keep up the good work and show other artist how you progress.

This is a treat that reconciles me with spirals.

Thank you for the watch.

I don't know if you will find anything you like.
I am rather a messy artist and I jump from one thing to another to find new things. I don't go deeply into any programme.

I really love this unique spiral!

The only critique I can think of is this might be even better if you set the render quality much higher- so it wont be quite as noisy, that is if you wish to do it.

By the way: what value did you set it as for this one, if you remember.

I have been trying to redo this a lot of times, I havnΒ΄t succeeded yet. But sometimes I am going through my old flames, it isnΒ΄t there, so it shall be a redo if I ever get there.

This is beautiful! Don't let your doubts talk you out of submitting. One of the advantages of the DA community is finding out what people like. I've had several pieces that I thought weren't good enough to submit and they turned out to be some of the most popular.

Yup, that's the challenge of Apophysis...it keeps us humble and coming back just to find what is going to emerge from the next screen...LOL

Good work! I like the color combo of this piece. And, I like that spiral...neat colors and textures..a kind of cross between a flower and spiral.

patrx In reply to gitte [2007-08-08 13:57:46 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. I know what you mean. I deleted some of my early parameter files when I rendered things, thinking that I wouldn't need them....oops. I've been going back and re-rendering som of the old flames and wish I had some of those old parameter files, now that I know more about the Apophysis program features. And, I'm still learning. I save everything as I make variations of a flame. I put them in categories of the variation used or what they look like. But, when it comes to writing the computer stuff, I'm a bit illiterate...LOL The computers still used those old punch cards and took up an entire room when I went to college... Guess I was born too soon...LOL

So, keep at it, and the parameter files really don't take up that much data space.

I have started to save everything too, at least the ones I like. I have quit a lot saved, which have never been rendered Well Im a grandma myself but computerstuff has always interested me ..

Never had a family, myself, but I'm a great uncle several times over... I have lots of fun with the computer....it keeps me occupied all day...between playing with Apophysis and the family genealogy research... My nephews all grew up using computers...from the time they could walk, it seemed. And, they're still messing with computers as jobs, not to mention building their own machines. So, when I get in trouble, I call the nephews if I can't figure it out....LOL

I have all my stuff saved in categories, so it makes it easy finding them for my collages once I get the urge for a piece. I never know how it will look when I start, sometimes. They take on a life of their own once I start adding the flames or portions of them to an image. I think I spent a week or so on one of my landscape pieces before I decided I had added enough.

patrx In reply to gitte [2007-08-11 13:52:40 +0000 UTC]

That it is. My only wish now is that I had enough strength to be able to lift my computer so that I could mess with the insides.... I would love to be able to build or modify the computer with some of those neat modules that are available from the computer parts suppliers. But, the muscular dystrophy put an end to that with its ongoing muscular weakness. At least I can still type and mess around on the keyboard...and my imagination can still run wild...LOL

Ohh you are sick ... I had to look it up on the wikipedia, to find out more about this disease. Have you been ill since childhood or has it come to you in a grow-up age ?

It is a good thing that you still have humor and a good imagination to go with it

Take care.

patrx In reply to gitte [2007-08-12 14:57:33 +0000 UTC]

I can't really complain, Gitte. They type of dystrophy that I have has a slow onset. I suppose that I've had it all my life. As a kid, my muscles did fatigue rather quickly when I was out doing the normal kid things. I'm glad that it was such a slow acting type in that I was able to participate in a lot of things that kids do...canoeing, camping and hiking the hills and prairies. It really didn't start causing problems until my college years and I pretty much beat the wheelchair by a good 10 years from what they thought when the muscular dystrophy was confirmed back in 1976. So, I was able to work until about 1997 when I got too unsteady to be on my feet and falls began to take their toll. So, I really haven't been relegated to my 'chair fulltime since '99. And, so far I've beat the average age of death from it by a good 5-10 years, too. So, I'm doing a bit better than average... The nice thing about this slow acting form is that I've had a long time getting used to the fact that I'd eventually end up in the 'chair. The type that I have is related to the duschene type of muscular dystrophy and called the ''limb-girdle'' variety of the dystrophy. They're making progress in the treatment, but I fear it's a bit late for me, though. So, I just take it a day at a time and it just passes right along. My art and the internet keep me busy and I forget everything else...LOL

Yes you did have a long time to get used to your illness. And I think you are a brave man. And it would be so good if they could come up with some medicin, that really works. I hope you do know that you are writing in a public area ? But maybe you donΒ΄t mind ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

patrx In reply to gitte [2007-08-16 14:07:02 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't bother me. Most things I don't mind sharing...but, the private things I write in the personal notes. When it comes to the muscular dystrophy, it helps to let others know more about it. There are a lot of us out there who have one of the many varieties of it and we still have our minds to keep up active and creative, though we may have limited levels of physical activity. And, the internet is a great way to get out and meet people that we otherwise wouldn't. There are a great group of people here at DevArt as well as other sites that one can interact with on a daily basis and not limited by our physical self.
