They just die and that's the end of the line for them. While reincarnation exists in the universe, it's not applicable to angels. Every soul is meant to live their primary lifespan as an angel and if you mess that up and get killed, no more life for you :V

The art is really great! I'm reading some of your comments about your world building and it's so interesting.

I was about to ask how many of them pre-dated heaven, but then I read one of the comments below. Poor guy's been through quite a lot it seems, but hey, at least he's still physically intact. Got both arms, legs, ears, and a full tail.
So in your world, when someone dies and goes to heaven, does the reset give them the body they had in whatever their physical prime was, or is there some sort of set age? Do they continue to age from their reset point on? Because I've seen some older looking characters on the council.
Sorry for all the questions. It's just that it seems you put so much unseen attention and detail into the worlds you two create.

Immediately after somone dies, they will appear the same age as when they died. This is mostly to keep people from freaking out too much over waking up in Heaven - Something I can imagine is pretty damn upsetting and confusing for most people. Not to mention, it would be even weirder for a kid to die and wake up as an adult.
But as I mentioned, the likeliness is merely superficial. For example, if an old arthritic guy dies, he will still look old as an angel, but not have any signs of arthritis.
Angels (or any dead people really, it's not just angels) only age visually and can age in either direction at about the same pace as a mortal would. How old they end up appearing to be, is usually influenced by how old they feel. Other angels are more conscious about it - Some like to look young, some think it invokes respect to look old, etc.
I guess Balthazar's apparent age must be something he's conscious about, because boy he does not feel like he's 30-something.
Ah and don't be sorry about the questions! I like to blabber about world building stuff anyway

Yeah, with everything he's been through, I doubt he'd feel young at heart.
So age is subjective to how the person feels/ views them self, or for those more aware, how they wish to appear. Okay, thanks for the detailed explanation!
If they age at about the same pace a mortal (of their race I'm assuming) would based on how they feel/view themselves, then is that also the case for those who consciously influence their appearance? If a guy died at 60, slowly aged backwards to 30, but then became aware that he could influence his age appearance, would he have to wait in real-time for whatever change in age appearance he wanted? Is the time between age shifts shorter for them? I can't imagine it's instantaneous, because that would probably confuse their friends and family if they were age hopping all over the place at will.

Yes, aging always happens at just about the same speed (depending on the species, as you say). It's not an overnight beauty treatment no matter how much you might want that
I guess it.. would be possible to break that rule, though..? At least to a point? The thing about souls (angels, devils, etc.) is that they're rather inhibited by their past limitations as mortals. It's not that they are free of physical boundaries, but a lot of stuff related to mortality, technically doesn't apply to them.
The only thing I can think to compare it to right now, is The Matrix, haha - only it doesn't involve a lot of slo-mo acrobatics, but more altering of physical needs/capabilities X) Also it's not like you could ever have some "break through" and then be able to do everything as you please. It's a consistent struggle to break the, well maybe not rules, but guidelines then, that apply to your own person.
Anyway, it's complicated and hard to explain. It's one of those things I tend to determine whether is plausible on a case-to-case basis.

Speaking of almost dying... how DID he die anyway? Are any of those scars from that little mishap? I feel I should know this already.
And he does have nice arms. It's amazing how few scars he has on the rest of his body, eye not included. He kept his face pretty for the most part.

Nah, I don't think I've ever talked about this? Amazingly enough he just died of being old and worn down. Probably got pneumonia and coughed himself to death or something. I don't know, it's not so important.
You don't carry any injuries, deformities, etc. over to you angel body - it's not the same body, they just look alike. So when you die it's like a clean slate.
Otherwise being an angel would be pretty terrible for a whole bunch of people D: I mean, imagine having died from being blown up. Or just decapitated for that matter. Welcome to Heaven, where you can spend eternity as a pile of flesh bits. Fun!

Aaah, right, didn't think about the clean slate. But still, he has had 900 years to get new ones, so not a big loss there. Quite an anticlimactic death for a warrior in life and afterlife.
And as for showing off his body some more, I'm sure you can find a reason for him to strip down a bit. Ruin his shirt or something. The power of being the author and artist.

Hahaha, it'll be a cold day in hell before he'll allow that to happen. You know we have absolutely no control over our own characters X)

No I don't think you have talked about his death.
The most comprehensive text about Balthazar I have been able to find is what you have published together with his character sheet. However the fact that he diedΒ at age 65 and a lack of mention of how he died made me always assume he died of natural causes.
That's a lot of scars though, and big ones too... but I guess he has had a lot of time to accumulate them.

Hrmm yeah, old character sheets aren't the best source of information either. That's the problem with the internet when characters are still work-in-progress (which they always are in my case). These days I try to gather some facts over on this CharaHub thing: charahub.com/user/TheScatterbr⦠- it should at least be up to date, but not particularly extensive. I mostly keep it for my own use.
Most of those scars are from the same event where he lost his eye. They didn't... heal very well. I don't know how he managed to not die from that to be honest.
Often times you can avoid getting any scars at all if you just get a healer angel to do their magic on the wounds - closes them up a lot neater than what might otherwise be the case.

Either his healer angel sucked or there wasn't one close enough to help in time. Or plain refused due to being stubborn.

It was a combination of there plain not being any healer angels and the wounds being made by angry, venomous Gluttony demons.
